Guest catcott_red1 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Good. Dont think he would stand a chance anyway tbh
Guest jamesbryantrec Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Has said he will not be applying for the managerial role. Source: Adam Baker's twitter. Thank **** for that!
Super Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Thank **** for that! I have seen nothing in him to suggest he would make a manager. IMO he didn't help Millen one bit.
SJC Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 IMO he didn't help Millen one bit. Caulker helped Millen quite alot . . . .
David Brent Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I'm not applying for the managers role either.
cheese Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I'm not applying for the managers role either. Phew, that's a relief! Only another 10,000 members left to declare!
WellRedPhil Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15166250.stm Seems gutted Millen's gone and seems a bit pissed off with the whole situation.

WellRedPhil Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I guess its as he can tell the players should be taking the blame for a lot of this. It does very much appear that way. The way he talks about the board suggests they don't have much of a relationship as well, interesting how he says they not we when talking about getting in a new replacement...
Sargent Pepper Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Was Wiggers at Southampton when Dave Jones was manager?
Spike Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 He joined up with Millen at Bristol City in August 2010 and admits he is disappointed with the board's decision to find a new manager. "It's always a sad day when a good man who works hard loses his job and I think it will be Bristol City's loss in the long run," said Wigley. "I was confident we could have turned it round but that opportunity is not there now, the board have made a decision and we have to move on. "He'll be disappointed to leave the club because he gave it a good service, worked very hard but I'm sure his career is only at the beginning." Think this means Wigley will be on his way out? I don't see how he can say it'll be Bristol Citys loss unless he's on his way out? Really silly comment IMO when we are bottom of the League and just lost 5-0, no signs of turning it around in my eyes.

I think Wigley is just a refreshingly honest man speaking up for a colleague who has lost his job. Listened to in context I think that what he is saying is that Keith Millen will go on to be a successful manager, just not at Bristol City. Seems fair enough.
Guest DelliottBcfc21 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 This is pretty interesting, It seems as though he doesnt expect to be there much longer. Which i hope he isnt, the whole backroom staff need a good shake up! And it seems as though we have a short list now, of applicants who we want to progress further with and he will be in place next week. I think that if we were to get a manager like McClaren, he doesnt have any backrooms staff so Wigley would more than likely stay, but it seems hes not going to be so, hopefully thats the wally out the picture!, hopefully this manager has his own staff, somebody like Dave Jones, Billy Davies or O'Neil (Which i know is a massive long shot, as how expensive he culd be, but stranger thing have happened) so fingers crossed!!
TRL Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Shows good loyalty to the person that hired him. Can fault that, just the kind of person you want by your side.
Betelgeuse Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 For me, Wigley has always seemed more interested in England U-21s than city. I know he's involved with both but it would be nice to have an assistant manager who is 100% involved with City.
Donald Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Between this and the Carey interview, I think it points to bigger issues behind the scenes, that were possible out of Millen's control. Club needs a shake up and a clear out including Coaching Staff, some Senior Players and a couple of the new board members who are out of their depth in their new roles.

Yeah doesn't look good, i get the impression there is much bigger problems behind the scenes.

Loderingo Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Sack the tealady! It is all her fault for stocking the wrong brand of rich tea biscuits :-)
Donald Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 How on earth would you know?! The lack of any "footballing/sporting background" has been apparent, running a football club like a normal business just isn't possible.
BITW Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 For me, Wigley has always seemed more interested in England U-21s than city. I know he's involved with both but it would be nice to have an assistant manager who is 100% involved with City. How exactly? He's always been present at training and games. What more could he do? Personally I think he's a good asset to the club what with his U21 contacts etc. Doesn't look like he's sticking around though which is probably best in the long run. We need a fresh start.
Rocky Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 The lack of any "footballing/sporting background" has been apparent, running a football club like a normal business just isn't possible. Most club owners/chairman/CEO's have no footballing/sporting background, they're faces of big corporations or people who have been successful outside of football and love the game...

For me he comes out of his interview with great credit, he is honest, doesn't shirk his share of the blame and rightly says everyone should take a look at themselves. I don't think he'll be here as soon as a new man is appointed and that may be right, but watching this I understand why Millen wanted him as his assistant.
BCFC Jordan Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Seems like a nice bloke and very defensive of Keith. I still believe Keith can become a great manager but for whatever reason this season just hasn't clicked for him.

myol'man Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 He should take off his rose tinted specs, Millen will go to be as successful as Tinnion
Dorset_Cider Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Sack the tealady! It is all her fault for stocking the wrong brand of rich tea biscuits :-) Prawn flavour....... so the rumour I heard went.
Andy Horsman Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Would he be that involved if Stuart Pearce was manager of City? Let's hope we never know Rich.........

Personally I think he's a good asset to the club what with his U21 contacts etc. Doesn't look like he's sticking around though which is probably best in the long run. We need a fresh start. With respect I'm not sure what his U21 contacts have actually done for us. Danny Rose was the only player who came in due to that link and that didn't exactly go well. To be honest, the club has been lacking a little charisma, and neither Keef nor Wiggles exactly seemed to redress that balance. I think KM comes across as very passive, which may be why he struggled to attract the players. If you have a manager like that then ideally you need an opposite for an assistant to counter it and I haven't ever been enthused by listening to Wigley at all. He's clearly pissed off with the board's decision, which I'm sure is a loyalty aspect for which he should be commended I guess. But i think i would prefer the new guy to bring in his own assistant, and to be honest I think that will happen as the signs are that SW will walk.
Superjack Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Would he be that involved if Stuart Pearce was manager of City? If as it seems Wigley is upset at something, we can probably rule Stuart Pearce out. He's the first one Pearce would ask about the club. Which is a shame IMO.

Although I must admit that may have been after we took him on loan.
Oizys Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Caulker was in and around the squad. Although I must admit that may have been after we took him on loan. It was Geoff Twentyman that put Millen onto Caulker. Not quite sure how Wigley wasn't aware of him and kinda undermines the u21 link advantage if he doesn't pick up on players that should be on his radar.

So we have a gashead to thank for keeping us in the league last year....
