Evening Fellas.

Quick question... I'm in my second year at UWE and a big Saints fan so I'm considering buying a couple of tickets in the home end for me and the girlfriend for the weekend. I just wanted your opinion on where the best area to sit would be. I'd obviously have to bite my lip throughout the game, but it would be good to see the boys play as I haven't really been able to recently with uni and everything.

Also, what's the easiest way to get to the stadium by foot? I live on Jacob's Wells Road by the triangle, and I'm guessing it's the other side of the Waterfront, but I'm just curious as to what the best way to get there would be. Any help appreiciated lads; sense this having goals, both sides decent going forwards but can also be suspect in defence so I don't want to miss it, and I'm interested to see what AG is like!

The quickest way from the Triangle is to walk down Park Row to Stokes Croft, walk up Cheltenham Road which then leads on to Gloucester Road and take a right at Filton Avenue. The ground is on your right.

The thing that started the aggro last year against Leeds wasn't the fan getting mouthy but threads like this.

For each of the Leeds goals bald headed thugs in city colours craned their necks and stared at their fellow spectators in search of the slightest hint of an away fan. That all started because of billy big bollocks Leeds fans coming on here going on about sitting in 'our' end.

The guy that got a pasting took exception to being shouted at and then got too big for his boots.

If people make themselves known then fair enough, have a word or get them removed. If you're looking for them instead of watching the game then you need your ******* head tested.

All of which could be prevented by just not going in the home end in the first place.

Indeed, I certainly wouldn't encourage or advise opposition fans to sit in the home end of any game. I just think it should be noted that had their not been that thread pre-leeds people wouldn't have been "looking for it" and they might well have got away with it and seen a game of football (What we're all there to do at the end of the day)

Might come as a suprise but a lot of people dont read otib or even know it exists. go in amongst home fans and bring attention to yourself then things will often come on top.

Well the home fans knew there would be away fans in their end through some means, whether it be this forum, other forums or even chats down the pub.

I was but 10 seats away from the incident in the Dolman and saw with my own eyes how many of our fans were more interested in searching out the Leeds fans than they were on the football. (I sit in the back row)

The person didn't really bring attention to himself until he was rumbled and the guy in front of him got aggressive. From that point he did act like a prat but when you're faced with an intimidating situation like that I guess you fall back on "fight or flight"

This sort of thing has been happening long before any forums existed.

I agree with the view that a relatively small number of fans read, or contribute through such formats and even less take much notice of it! However if you are going to sit amongst home supporters, and I've done it myself a few times when I couldn't get away tickets, you just have to keep quiet and not draw attention to yourself. Otherwise you may be ejected or get roughed up or both.

After all it's not the mixing of fans that is the problem, it's the way some of them behave. :disapointed2se:

Indeed, But I have never before seen a number of our fans stand up and face their fellow supporters searching with an aggressive intent for 'foreign fans'.

The Bloke in question probably wouldn't have got a pasting had those people not been looking for him, He wasn't that much of a dick until they started on him. Because of this I agree with you final line, but think it was us that behaved the worst in that situation.

Jesus. I doubt any of them read the forum, it's common knowledge that Leeds fans go in home end and like to make it known.

Play with fire - get burned.(or bummed if you do it at Brighton).

And as for all the cherubs that are saying fans shouldn't go in home ends - why not? If someone is watching a game of football and keeps their mouth shut, who cares?

I've done it several times and only once got found (and nearly lynched by unwashed northeners)

I tried to book a ticket for this one online (been debating whether to part with £30 when xmas is around the corner) but when I signed in it says I do not have the privileges on my account to purchase a ticket for this game. I know it's a privilege to watch the McInnes revival but I am suprised the club would turn away customers, I do have plenty of purchase history with the club as well so they can see I am not a Saints fan.

Might have been said, but seems like a few will be in the home ends. Someone on there mentioned about the Leeds game

'We have 5 tickets in the "home end" and we will all be wearing our colours.

Come and have a go if you think......'

I think 'escorted out' will be the result of their B--B-Blks nonsense. :farmer:

The thing is, the guy got a pasting in the dolman as, because he was sat 4 seats from me in my row, with his white leeds shirt on, not even clearly hidden, also smiling when the first goal went in. What an idiot!! Once his pasting started his chunky mate didnt feel quite so hard knowing what he was due to b subjected to!! Violence is wrong, but football is tribal. Home ends are for home fans. I expect evryone will b looking for saints fans tomorrow as they will probably b in our ends. If there are any near me i will b asking for them to b removed. If their allocation is used up tough shit. Yes we may need the money but i dont want grinning saints fans sat anywhere near me. Im sure theyre even breaking football league regulations by being in our ends. I hope theres no trouble tomorrow but i can see why people get so aggresive towards them. After all there are plenty of wallies about!!!!!

I had exactly the same problem.

Wanted to book 2 seats. Loads of purchase history so obviously not a Southampton fan, but no go.

Emailed ticket office to complain and got a phone call today explaining the situation about preventing Southampton fans gaining access to home stands.

I wonder how many more not going because of this?

2 less going here, very poor organisation by the club imo.

Can you not just turn up and POTD?

Not sure if POTD is an option for this game.

I prefer to know where I will be sitting before I get to the ground.

Used to do it POTD only to find all the best seats gone and I'm stuck in a corner somewhere with a poor view.

Still not like the club needs all the support it can get at the moment!

Will be cheering the reds on at home though.

Did they not offer you the chance to get your tickets when they gave you a call today??

Yes, they did offer me that option but to my way of thinking I could still have been a Southampton fan.

I guess it's just the logic of it all that baffles and annoys me.

If I had no history of purchasing tickets for BCFC home games I could understand and accept it.

We all have our preferred way of doing things and for me thats viewing a seating plan online and booking the seat/s I want. So to take that option away for no valid reason is for me disappointing.

With the greatest of respect how did you buy tickets for the bigger games before the tickets were sold on the internet?

I appreciate that you have a preferred way of doing things but sometimes in life we have to make little sacrifices & from the way you describe it the club phoned you, apologised (?) and offered you a chance to purchase tickets there & then. Not ideal for you, but it appears from the outside looking in that the club at least tried to make up for the limitations within their system.

Ok the club does miss out on 2 ticket sales but I fear you are the one that will miss out more if today's match ends up being a classic.

I guess it is a point of principle for you now?

So what you're saying is: you wanted to go to the game. The club gave you a personal call offering to sell you tickets. But now you're refusing to buy a ticket because you wanted to see a map of the ground while you bought the tickets?

Sounds perfectly reasonable...
