Ron
ah cool. interesting to know so thanks for passing on the info. wish the club weren't so secretive about contracts nowadays. So secretive it's mentioned explicitly on his own wikipedia page.

Nogbad the Bad
So with a rough consensus on the people we want to renew (and if we can shift the other deadwood like Hunt & Stewart) we're left with 18 players out of the desired 24 and a squad that'll look a little like the below. I'm assuming Nicky is gonna leave and I think Del will sign Pearson... GK - Gerkin/Lewis Carey - 1 needed Fullbacks - Skuse, Bryan - 2 needed Çentre Halfs - Fonts, Nyatanga, Wilson - 1 needed Wide Midfield - Woolford, Pearson, Adomah, Bolasie Central Midfield - Cisse, Kilkenny, Elliot, Reid - 1 needed Forwards - Pittman, Clarkson, Stead, Holloway - 1 needed Let's hope Del know's a few hidden gems or SL's prepared to get his cheque book out again. A few points: Clarkson ( and Hunt) are OOC, and will surely go. Holloway's not a recognised specialist forward, can play literally anywhere and final best position still undetermined. Bryan is just as at home in left midfield as defence, so more of a utility player Fontaine may still go to Saints in January, we need to get him under contract quickly. Pearson signing permanently? Not so sure, more a stop gap until Jan., who needs to really prove himself in order to be taken on full time. For me he's done well, but isn't a 'must sign' by any means at this stage and Del may well have others in mind for that position when the window opens. Maynard, who knows, but if he stays it's quite possible Pitman won't. This could go on forever.
Coxy27
So secretive it's mentioned explicitly on his own wikipedia page. CONCLUSIVE proof then! Haha. I think it was announced though.
Red Cloud
what i liked when Del took over is no doubt he was promised a substantial of money to spend but only brought in 1 loanee - hopefully the first manager for a long time not to squander our (or Steve's) money
notsobigfatdave
Im not James biggest fan admittedly but is there a better goalkeeper in the Championship outside the obvious ( Green ) I'll wager DJ is with us for another season. Maynard wont leave.
'Orns
Fontaine may still go to Saints in January, we need to get him under contract quickly. I see that Southampton have done a permanent deal for Hooiveld (sp!) today with Celtic, presuming he came in on loan instead of Fontaine, so maybe they are happy to stick with what they have now? Hope so

Nogbad the Bad
My mate works down at the gate and is more often than not out there when they are training. Carey is well liked by the players and staff, and it is no surprise he is club Captain. I don't disagree with anything you say here, I am quite dispassionate about Jobs for the boys. I just wonder what effect it will have on Morale, I know players come and go and people are forgotten. But it seems to me McInnes likes players who pull together, and From what I know of Carey, he is pretty good at that, so it doesn't neccessarily have to be from a playing point of view. Me personally I would like McInnes to build his own team, if he sees that Carey as a part of that great, if not, great. What ever is the right choice for the best atmosphere and Morale at the club is good for me. If it means keeping older players that may not feature so much then so be it. Popular morale booster or not, we can't afford him as a non player. Brightman (c.1m 39secs) warbles my feelings on Carey perfectly, and Bocelli (c.2m.59secs) thunders his agreement. Tins
David James - Give 1 more year, looking solid now Jordan Spence - Send back. Not making team, not looking fantastic in reserves either. Jamie McAllister - Needs to go, too old. Liam Fontaine - Our best centre back! Need him to stay!! Louis Carey - In my opinion was part of the old problem. Not sure him and Del see eye to eye. Nicky Maynard - Would LOVE to keep, 50/50 if he stays. David Clarkson - Not good enough for Championship. Christian Ribeiro - Would like to keep him, but injuries worry me. Time to go I feel. Jamal Campbell Ryce- Not as good as Albert or Pearson. Also behind Bolasie. Time to go. Kalifa Cisse - Need to keep. Solid player. Joe Edwards - Not enough known about him, saw him for Stockport and was poor. Would prob release. Marlon Jackson - Not good enough. Go. Danny Ball - Nothing known. Joe Lennox - Has some promise. Will he be championship standard? Highly doubt it. Go. Nicky Hunt - Shame about his injury, would like to see him get a new run in the team. Got to go now unfortunately. Aaron Amadi-Holloway - Always been highly rated at city. 1 year deal? Henry Muggeridge - Not enough known. Lewis Carey - 1 year contract as 3rd choice. Getting good reviews. Lee Johnson - So happy he is finally going to go! Ryan McGivern - Looking decent now, but will go back to Man City. Need a good replacement. Stephen Pearson - Would like to sign him permanently. Should be possible. Joe Bryan - very impressed with when I saw him in the reserves! Very creative, good runs, and shots. We still need replacements: GK: If James go, need new number 1. RB: Skuse, and cover/pushing for start CB: Nyatanga, Stewart, Wilson, Fonts (hopefully) - maybe 1 quality CB to partner Fonts. LB: 2 needed RM: Adomah, Bolasie CM: Cisse, Elliott, Kilkenny, Skuse can cover - 1 more midfielder to cover Kilkenny LM: Pearson, Bryan ST: Pittman, Stead, Taylor, Maynard (Hopefully) Hope to see 5/6 new players in, all depends on who goes. Someone like Jacobs from Northampton to cover for Kilkenny would be good, some up and coming players with some experience and lots of promise needed. CiderHider
Thats a lot more players under contract than I thought. I recognize all the names and its surprising how few have really made much of an impact. Personally think the players are relishing the leadership and how it represents a last chance to get a new deal, prove themselves to him, but have they got the time to impress the new coaching staff, particually fringe players, and can Carey impress late on and get a deal? If ever SL was going to back anyone, back this guy, send him raiding up north in the summer, get Naismith!, haha, well we have tried before, but surely some great players with ambition of playing outside the SPL, under the radar of the Prem boys? DMc will be a key reason to join us, and for those out of contract players to have a rethink about staying on, Fonts, Cisse, Maynard?
