Having to work away in London this week so will be keeping track of this one in the office. Sod's law that I've been sent to London when we're playing a London team at home but there you go. I will be keeping everyone else in the office fully updated on proceedings whether they like it or not!

Jellied Eel Recipe:-

Ingredients;

2 eels, cleaned, gutted and skinned

3/4 pint water

5 tbsp white wine vinegar

10 black peppercorns

1 bay leaf

Salt

Knob of butter

Method:

1. Chop the eels into pieces a couple of inches big

2. Grease a casserole dish with butter

3. Put the eel pieces in the dish with the rest of the ingredients and season with salt

4. Put the lid on the casserole dish and bake in the oven on gas mark 3, 170c, 325 f for 'about an hour'

5. Let the eel and its liquor cool before putting in the fridge over night until the liquid has 'jellied'.

Alternatively, don't bother.

The cheeky cockney monkey's.

What about cottage pie?

It's like a parallell universe on here tonight - I'm not sure of I've logged into the Good Food website by mistake.

Can you call something a pie when it doesn't have any pastry?

OK lets get the definitions correct:-

A 'pie' is a baked dish which is usually made of a pastry dough casing that covers (for shirt lifters) or completely contains a filling of various sweet or savoury ingredients.

A 'cottage pie' is a meat pie with a CRUST of mashed potato, dating from c.1791.

The 'shepards pie' came much later - about 1877.

Any more stupid questions?
