beaverface
Just curious really, but did Bristol South End have a club badge/crest on the shirts?
spudski
First sign of a badge was in 1901. Coat of Arms of Bristol.

spudski
All I know is their colours were Gold and Wine red halves? Yep...Claret, Gold and black. Maybe our second kit could be these colours...as a nod to our past. I like tradition...better than keeping changing colours every year in my book. Bristol South End "Bristol City - Formed as Bristol South End in 1894. Changed name to Bristol City in 1897. Merged with Bedminster in 1900." have always played in red. CotswoldRed
Interesting that it took more than 80 years for shirt advertising to kick in.

I was surprised as well - not until 1981 did we start getting shirt sponsors. Was that common maybe a league requirement prevented it.

I think it wasn't allowed, yep. More recently this was true of the national team.
