All I know is their colours were Gold and Wine red halves?

Yep...Claret, Gold and black. Maybe our second kit could be these colours...as a nod to our past. I like tradition...better than keeping changing colours every year in my book.

Nope, Bedminster (Southville) played in gold and black.

Interesting that it took more than 80 years for shirt advertising to kick in.

I was surprised as well - not until 1981 did we start getting shirt sponsors. Was that common maybe a league requirement prevented it.

I think it wasn't allowed, yep. More recently this was true of the national team.
