A big problem come Russia 2018 will be terrorism, specifically domestic.

Those factions from the Caucasus will already be looking at this as a headline grabber. As shown from their previous activity in mainland Russia they have both capacity and desire to deal serious damage at the very heart of the country.

Due to government enforced reporting restrictions and propaganda the extent and frequency of their activities is seriously under reported, not just outside Russia but inside it as well. It is a real problem and will be in 2018 still.

I'm glad UEFA weren't dishing out punishments like this back in the 80s/90s/early 2000s, as England would have hardly played in any tournaments, if so. ,

I believe uefa banned english domestic clubs from europe for ten years. Such a punishment has never been seen since. Turkish clubs stab away fans in cold blooded murder....and are politely requested to play their nect match at a neutral venue.

If this had been footage of England fans, I have no doubt the England team would be escorted immediately to the airport without the chance to even collect their belongings.....

Yes more its all England's fault comments how peaceful were Italian fans in Champions league matches against Man Utd ... The Russians are thugs its a brutal country with a violent history any wonder they are now regarded as the worlds worst tourists due to their aggressive, rude, selfish manner.

Cardiff black label you keep making the point about English hooligans but the worst fans in the country are Cardiff City supporters. The club turned a blind eye to its hooligan problem and so did the Police for many many years . Also the FAW done sweet FA stop the problems .

So stop taking the moral high ground you know what they say about people in glass houses.

I don't for one second think Wales or Welsh fans are inherently different to English fans (although it does have to be said that there isn't the 'imperialistic arrogance when abroad) When Wales lost to Romania in 1993 (and thus narrowly missed out on USA 94) a flare was thrown at Cardiff Arms park, and a man was killed. I know what Cardiff and Swansea fans can be like, although really, personally I don't think anyone really thinks Cardiff fans are the worst in the country.

My reason for mentioning England, is that Euro 96 was in England, English clubs were banned, and Heysel etc involved an English club, and the vast majority of the people on here slagging off Russia and it's fans are English.

If Cardiff fans were saying that Leeds or Millwall should be docked points for hooliganism, I'd make the same point to them.

The England national team has never been banned from any tournament, as far as I'm aware, despite our fans causing trouble at most international tournments between 1980 and 2000, so really can't agree with your last sentence.

English clubs were banned from Europe for 5 years (I think Liverpool got an extra year on top) after 39 people were killed at Heysel. I really don't want to get into any details on Heysel, but surely 39 people dying (even if the Heysel stadium itself was partly the cause of this) is a lot more serious than a few stewards getting a kicking from some Russians...

Been to the odd England match overseas and never encountered this alleged trait. Is just your xenophobia imagining it?

I must admit I went to England matches at both France '98 & the Euros in Holland 2002 & must admit I proudly extended the nation's powers through having a few drinks with fans of our opponents (I opted for the diplomatic side of imperialism) and cheering my team on to defeat. I'm sure you're all grateful for the extra powers this country now enjoys as a direct result of my imperialistically arrogant attitude.
