Red Cloud
I reckon the DW's persistance with Peacock REGARDLESS of form!
fct
Probably true. In the end the season came down to winning one game when we got a draw. Having a forward who could score rather than the impotent Peacock would have got us up, simple as that. The defence did their job, the front line didn't. Red Cloud
another one many seem to have forgotten about was the same type of pesistance regardless with Joe Burnell at the start of the season. When eventually dropped we actually started winning games - how many points were dropped before?
fct
Too many draws with a boring negative team. Its all very well playing for a 0-0 at home but it doesn't win you games.
Guest Anduril
It was obvious this season that Danny tried to emulate the Wigan of last season - you know, boring and grinding, but a late winner every game. Unfortunately, we did not have an Ellington or the other 3 or 4 goal scorers that Wigan had, hence any defensive error (and we had too many of those, esp. Butler early/mid season) meant the best we would do was a draw.
Guest SteveinNC
City missed out because they have forgotten how to score goals. They have defended well all season, but the lack of a real finisher proved it would be a bridge too far for City. As we have done so many times in the past, we fall at the last hurdle. I don't know where we go from here!
fct
We lose a few players and try again with the same manager and a younger squad.
Guest Liam_Burns
The main thing the team missed this year was someone with that killer instinct in front of goal, lets hope Gillespie can give us that next season and that robbo continues to improve and bangs in 20 odd goals! There is no reason why City shouldn't win this leauge next season...but then again i have been saying this for 6 years now
Guest wishbone
Single most reason for failure? Simple - NOT ENOUGH GOALS!
Guest red revolutionary
Cannot score goals , do not look like scoring goals. Gillespie may be a chance taker, but the problem is the team itself with its defensive mentality. The midfield is hopelessly unbalanced - all 4 not just Tommy and Tins
Robbored
Post mortems, Oh what fun! (a) City didn't have a goal poacher (b)Wilson persisted with Burnell/Docherty far to long. ©Too many weak performances.Wycombe home and away,Oldham at home.Port Vale home/away to name just 5.One point from just three of those games would have taken us up. (d) Persisting with the Peacock/Miller when they are not compatible as strikers. (e) Leaving Roberts out for much of the season. (f) Too few goals from midfield. (g)Trying to "do a Wigan" in other words putting your reliance on your defence.

I think that it was also the same old city problem where we always seem to play well and get results against the better teams and failing to beat the poorer teams in the division! Shouldn't have persisted in playing peacock and miller and burnell and tommy when i was clear they were far too similar!
