I would like a chairman who really likes footbal and could afford to chuck £25 million in the kitty for players, oh yeah lansdown only has £600 million sat in the bank silly me. better team bigger crowds more revenue generated, get the jist mate.

No mate but I do get the gist, you want what pretty much what every championship club and many wannabee championship clubs want and fallen giants such as Portsmouth and Rangers want and are in short supply or of a dubious background, you obviously know a lot of these sort of well heeled men, so how about you recommend a few to SL, i'm sure he will be interested not only by your contacts and obvious business acumen but also by your unrivaled knowledge of how to successfully run a championship football club without becoming the next fallen giant or of course better still put your millions into the club.

Lansdown is obviously a selfish, uncaring, scheming, unwashed bastard.

I mean all these fans telling him to spend millions(more) of his money on a hobby, and does he? No. He just carries on as though these desperate souls voices DON'T carry the heavy burden of authority, intelligence and Brazilian like football knowledge and respect and attention which they both OBVIOUSLY deserve and crave.

All the while the bugger is probably filling his swimming pool full of fifty pound notes, washing his car in Champagne, and eating roasted baby panda - just for breakfast - the bastard.

Meanwhile, he is accumulating Internet user names to add to his hate list, to visit on a dark, cold January night, rapping his knuckles on your door, just so he can selfishly tell you how to spend your money.

The uncaring bastard.

Edit EMB just made my point as I was typing

I dont think we are a poor team. We have good set of players i think but what Del Boy needs to sort out or stamp out if you will is this attitude from the players that games against the smaller clubs of the division dont really matter or we only need to turn up to win. When we play the bigger clubs of the Championship like West Ham, Leicester, Birmingham we seem to give 110% and either take points off them or beat them but games against Peterborough and Palace we didnt seem interested.. It will no doubt be the same when we play the likes of Bolton, Wolves and Blackburn but the inconsistency is the killer. I think we'll improve our league position from last season even if its 16th or 17th and hopefully build from there next season.

I don't mean to sound rude but if you think we have a good set of players for this level then you are delusional! We will go down with this current set of players, we nearly went last year and you believe a new left back and an ageing midfielder who I doubt will play more than 25 games can save us then we are in trouble. His previous buys have not instilled a great deal of optimism either. A right back (Foster) who cant defend but hey ho he's quick! Pearson? think he may turn into another Tony Dinning, failed to replace Maynard and cant sign a center back we oh so obviously need. Couple that with all the off field PR disasters our club looks to serve us up and I can only see a long hostile and ultimately unsuccessful season ahead. Hope I'm wrong though

What sort of short shrift do you think Lansdown would get if he started telling these "people" how and what to do with their hard earned?

A) A four letter tirade?

B ) a nice cup of tea and an honest appreciation of his views and concerns?

C ) a punch in the throat?

But as I mentioned on another thread the worst players in the squad are non DMC signings and people conveniently forget that.

On the flip side, the best ones are not his either :)

Either way, it is still looking a weak first 11 even if the squad is well covered, apart from up front.

I agree with you mate, but I dont find his that much better if at all?

Off the top of my head he has signed Cunningham, Morris, Pearson, Anderson and Heaton

Are they any better than previous people in their position? Mcallister as a left back IN HIS PRIME was a great defender for us, Morris - Hartley?, Pearson, Anderson, Bolasie and Adomah, Heaton I'll await judgement but would assume he will be better than James!

All I will say is this, it all depends on your expectations and mine are mid table, but I am surprised that you of all people have already written our league season off even before it has started, you have been a supporter long enough to expect the unexpected after all this BCFC and you know I will not let you forget your pre season prediction...................................So think on young man.

My only prediction on here was low to mid table.

I predicted we will struggle if we don't at the very least get a good centre back and a striker.

I now want you to find a single post from me predicting relegation, be my guest, I can't remember one.

But rest assured, our glaring deficiencies I.e. have only (so far) been filled at left back, and even then we have only 1 specialist left back.

With Taylor and stead, we have two injury prone strikers, yet to replace maynard, let alone cover for our understaffed front line.

And the real biggie, centre back.

Now if we fill cb and cf with good signings I predict about 17th - 14th

If we don't I predict 18th or lower.

I am happy for you to remind me of this at the end of the season, no problem with that.

Edit. I see our specialist left back missed training through injury as well. Fingers crossed he will be good for forest.

I'll stick my neck out and say we will easily be relegated! Please god hope I'm wrong but just cant see how we are better off than last year and the league looks stronger again!

If you didnt mean to sound rude then you wouldnt have posted the word 'delusional'. I do genuinely think the squad we have are more than capable of achieving what is asked of them, I would admit that clearly we need a striker and another CB but signing Wilson is a good start and we still have 2 weeks to finalise a few more deals that are apparently in the pipeline. My basis of why I say that we will finish higher is on the last 12 games of last season, losing 2 of the last 12 and unbeaten in the last 8 showed that these players can produce good performances when its needed.. those 2 defeats Watford home was poor but I thought we were very unlucky against Cardiff and played well. I think we do have a better squad this season with Cunningham, Anderson and Morris (yes Morris) just a bit light but hopefully this will be rectified soon enough. If i'm wrong then may Forest beat us 3-0!

Well those clubs paid out wages and invested in players on borrowed money they could not afford, I believe that this is a stupid practice and for short term glory like Portsmouth, I would like to see a chairman like Mr Lansdown who has millions invest his £25M for 5 players of better quality, We would then see bigger crowds and generate more money through ticket sales, attract better sponsorship and maybe even enjoy some cup runs. If we bought 2 or even 3 up and coming younger talent we even might generate a nice profit on them and keep rebuilding, so my idea is not to pay over the odds, but to have someone who could donate to building a team of real hope, If I had is Millions I would certainly be prepared to offer this money, as someone else said City is his hobby, Ok well spend your money on a new set of players, the feel good factor would flood back yo Ashton gate and the support would follow,

Alternatively do what we are doing now and struggle, keep signing poor players and rhen we end up like every year with a squad full of crap players we can;'t get rig of for 3 years like Hunt and Stewart, Clarkson, Akinde, plus others. That produces lower crowds which generates low revenues.

So let me get this straight, SL spends 25mill on 5 players, the crowds flock back to AG, the feelgood factor returns and the club makes a profit?.

OK with your undoubted expertise you can guarantee a) the above and b) that these 5 players help gel the team into a winning squad?, because if not the crowds and feelgood factor won't last long but by **** the added 25mill debt will.

Are you George Osbourne?.

You miss the point completely, there would be no £25 M dept, The chairman has donated this to the team for rebuilding, 5 players better than we have on 3 year contracts, by the time these contract expire Lansdown would peobably worth £100 M at least the way his business and wealth grows. we add new players every season through the normal channels as we do now but spend more on 1 or 2 additions hence growing the quality of the squad every season.

So no City would not be in dept and Mr Lansdown would certainly no miss £25M. Put it another way , If I had won last week Euro Millions £148M I would gladly sat down with the board and donated £25M for 5 players on 3 year deals. The club could then carry on next season adding more players. they would also have more money in the kitty because more people would of bought season tickets.

due to FFP you can't do that or the club will be fined and placed under a transfer embargo,

There is nothing SL can do they need to be on a sound footing if we make the loss we made last season at the end of this season we will be fined and banned from making transfers,

Lansdown is not alloud to donate the club money he can only invest in ground improvments communinty trust and youth devlopment NOT PLAYER RECRUITMENT

You need to read up on FFP that starts 2012/13 season (this season) before you make yourself look even more of an idiot then you already do

So how come Forest can invest in 7 new players when they have dept

because they don't lose 12 million a season have a bigger ground and a greater earning capacity therefore can spend more money then us on player recurtment and wages

They get 24-28k a week we get 13-16k a week

They have exe boxes we don't

it will be interesting to see how much of an improvement there is on the players we let go to the ones we have bought in.

On paper the new players look better, but at the moment that is just that... on paper, we have yet to see any play competitively, apart from Morris.

If we are to believe the murmerings from Del fingers crossed there are two more on the way. I am wondering if one will be another free in McManus. More than likely it will be someone from Leftfield, as that seems the Del way. I would have thought we still have a decent (for our size) transfer budget left. It is keeping a control on the wages which I would think was the problem

I think the other two are McManus and Wood with possibly another on loan to make up numbers we'll have to wait and see,

If we do sign anyone today it will have to be before 12 in order for them to play tomorrow,

I think though that if new players are coming in it won't be until after the palace game now,

If Yannock goes it would be intresting to see is any money goes into the transfer kitty or goes toward the reduction of club debt

i wouldn't be at all surprised if mcManus came in

Wood, well, I think Del likes him, is he the type of strier we are looking for? I don't know what kind of striker Del is looking for, only they type I would go for. He never came across as a really pacy player, but then again, he was played out of position alot by Del often oit on the left. I am not sure we saw the best of Wood. He appears to have all the attributes to be a good striker though.

I would be relatively happy with those two. I can't say I was massively impressed with Mcmanus, but he seemed to get better as he got fitter and is pretty solid. I am not to worried about his age, as I can't remember pace ever being a part of his game. he will also give us that experience that carey gives us at the back, the kind of calming mentality that often goes missing when carey isn't playing

He's played and started 4/5 pre season games for boro including their final one so I'd be surprised if they let him leave. He's cover for Woodgate, I.E, he'll be in the team alot IMO

no money to spend, poor team, poor support, only deluded pink rose tinted die hard fans.

nothing changes, will simply don't have the money to splash, gerkin, skuse, fontaine, nytanga, carey, elliot, all hear when Johnson was here, we have added cheap alternatives, the only thing thats changed is the bloke shuffling the pack, Johnson, Copout, Millen and now Del, we don't pay the rates required to be successful and we cannot attract quality.

All summer we have played poor opposition to try to build confidence in a poor side.

Makes me laugh some of the comments on here.

Saturdays prediction Forest 4 - 0 City

I would love City to do well,

sorry but its not rocket science guys the board won't / Can't spend the money required. SIMMMMPLES.

The board paid a fortune on wages when Copout was here, that went well. Paying someone thousands and thousands of pounds a week does not guarantee a good player. What we need are young hungry players and a manager that can motivate them. I think Del has us pointing in the right direction but it isn't going to be a Football Manager style quick fix...

Option B for me. Given his track record I'd let him have complete control over my spending, that way I might stop accumulating crap & actually see my money grow :D

Thank you I love the way some on here love to tell the owner how and how much of his money to spend on the club.

You missed out "....whilst not spending ANY of their own!"
