InCider
Yes, strange indeed. Doesn't sound like he's thought all implications through, which is surprising for someone of his standing.

Robbored
He's saying that it would be ok for a club ( say Swansea) to pay another clubs players a bonus to beat Swansea's rivals? So if Southampton were playing Everton and Swansea wanted Southampton to lose then Swansea could pay the Everton players a bonus to encourage them. Not sure Moyes or any other manager would like that. Not exactly match fixing but not exactly 'in the spirit of the game' either
formerly known as ivan
So Swansea offer money to Wigan to beat Norwich to help them stay up, then surely Norwich would have the right to pay Wigan more to lose the match? To me its the same thing

To me its the same thing Well its defintely not the same thing. Players cannot control entirely if they win or not but they can control if they lose. Barrs Court Red
Ethically it is wrong, but not sure it can be classed as fixing. Yet more evidence that players only care about cash though, apart from a noble few.

But your influencing the result by offering money so its the exact same thing
Esmond Million's Bung
Just a thought but surely PROFESSIONAL footballers should be trying to win every time they step onto the field, that is what they are paid to do and the paying public expects, they should not need any outside influence or extra payment on top of their huge wages and certainly not from another club, it's ridiculous, why not take them all out for a free spit roast at the nearest travel lodge.
