The Atmosphere Down The Gate

People are interested badger? It will take time to get H block going

I do not think there is enough people interested to make it a success. I hope it is, but, football has changed, city are lucky they have fans in the Eastend that will make noise.

Fans that want to make noise have obviously moved to that stand, there is not a massive amount of fans that want to sing in modern day football.

After reading all the posts refering to atmosphere i tend to agree with most, for and against. What happens in the stands with regards to noise levels is directly linked to what happens on the pitch and who we are playing against example west ham last year, sat in E block atyeo and the noise at times was deafening, incredible atmos - leicester POTD and ditched my ST and again the atmosphere was amazing, very, very loud but both were great because of what happened on the pitch. It is also accountable by the number of people in any stand and their willingness to join in.

If everyone is trying to recreate the ashton gate of old, in my opinion you wont, those days are gone and vanished when they bought in all seaters - standing at the front of the dolman, donawa scoring against the gash we will never hear a noise like that again.you have to be realistic those mental days are part of the BCFC history and will live in peoples memorys but to try and reproduce them to those levels, mmm im not so sure but when everyone bangs on about how dead AG is,its not !, it just needs a prod and a bit of passion.

As many have said on here sitting in different parts of the ground brings a completley different matchday experience, EE cant hear atyeo, parts of the dolman cant hear EE, centre of Atyeo etc you could go on - but regardless of where your sat it aint happening unless it happens on the pitch. It is very difficult to just crank up the volume at will, unless something dictates it on the pitch or the team we are playing is cardiff etc thats where the passion comes in.

People are really trying to make a difference, surfer flags, parkenders flag, these have all been introduced to generate a better matchday experience & awareness, the club think its great and Dave L & Co are very supportive, I know Forza (Ed) is doing all he can, at times i wonder where he gets his enthusiasm from but its great to see and be part of - Everybody likes a noisy passionate crowd, those are the games you remember.

Ashton Gate is a formidable place and it would be even more so if we could get to half the decible levels it used to generate.

so if you see a group of people singing or trying to sing then join in, after a few pints it will seem like the right thing to do - H block still recruting.

100% agree mate, i have thought wen ive been to other grounds like st andrews that their atmosphere has nothing on Ashton Gate... So even if its not as good as most of u remember (im too young to know wat it was like) its still one of the best atmospheres in the football league!

Exactly - !!! what i was trying to say in a very long post was we will never replicate the AG of old but by god we should be able to intimidate every team in the championship when they come here - be loud, be proud BCFC

I think for most the entertaining football is a bit of a shock having not seen it for so long so I think some are just enjoying the football as said previously on this thread. If we go on a good home run I can see the atmosphere only getting better game by game.

Also think it's time to move on from the bounce around the ground and create a new song for this new era. Just need a decent quote we can make into a song from Del or even a current city player.

.Usually football teams get decent atmosphere when either doing badly or doing really well. So time will tell but much rather rubbish atmosphere and a mid table finish as boring as they may sound to some. Although would love a top 10 finish just being realistic though.

Again, not the clubs fault.

People had their chance recently with the Atyeo - Didn't take it

Before the East End was re-opened there was the chance in the Williams and Dolman, less than 200 got season tickets.

It's all well and good saying that the club doesn't do and could do, but the fact is fans just aren't interested unless they are in the East End, and even then moan about speed of songs, what songs are ok ect ect. Painfull.

And this is in large part down to an emphasis on family suport and commercialisation by clubs everywhere. If the dynamics stifle noisy support it will not take hold e.g stewarding - ticketing arrangements. The noisiest stand at Ashton Gate has a different demographic of fans and is the least commerialised - gentrified, have a look at the inhabitants and their attire. If they sat down, were less "traditional" and made purchases in the club shop more regularly the club would have opened it properly years ago.

Maybe if people stopped taking the view of 'the atmosphere's crap' and actually tried doing something about it like Forza Eastend/ Parkenders are trying to do then the atmosphere would improve (and since they have started it has... a lot)

Correct! If your fed up with the atmosphere get in the east end or up in h block and do something about it! Simples! If we packed out H block and come together to make some noise instead of moaning we would have a great atmosphere. If you want to sing and get behind the boys help ou Forza and get up there. The bloke has put loads of effort into it and all people do is moan about a shit atmosphere. If you don't like it, here's YOUR chance to do something about it.

What is all the fuss about. The atmosphere at the gate is very good. I too remember the good old days,

full house, standing, crushed, and shouting your head off in a rip roaring atmosphere, I also remember

the bad old days holding my head in my hands watching boys, in danger of going out the leauge with the ground

almost silent. We all want that extra special atmosphere, every week but it aint going to happen. Now and again

it just happens, others times its predictable, Palace semi etc. I sit in the Dolmam and frequently join in the songs,

as do all around me. Lets not do ourselves down, the gate is as good as any in this division.

It's not great. Pretty flat for a lot of game v Leeds, was up and down v Cardiff though less intense than I thought it'd be. See City infrequently but it seems to have definitely got flatter.

One suggestion I would stress, FFS crap blaring music pre kick off kills the atmosphere, drowns out any chance to build an atmosphere naturally. Not saying it'd be the overall solution but it might help a bit.

Its poor, we need to go back to the good old days when we got promoted from league 1 when AG was rocking and all stands would sing along and you dont get asked to sit down or move out the way. Football needs atmosphere and us fans are the only ones who can provide it.

If everyone can just relax and have some fun whilst watching the game the atmosphere would soon come back

Have to agree and one of my pet hates I thought at the start of the 2nd half they had decided to accompany the football with a musical soundtrack and drown out all crowd noise.
