RedRock
Was visiting the Sags Forum tonight (almost echo-like ,, players out of position, no fight/passion, sack the manager etc) and there was mention of Oscar. They thought he sold programmes at AG as well as Eastvile. Do remember seeing him once outside the East End but think his regular appearances outside the Tote made him a somewhat unwelcome visitor and he was never seen again. Anyone else recall this character and what happened to him?
slartibartfast
Used to see him regularly at Eastvile (for the Speedway, in case you're wondering).Although the guy had severe learning difficulties he ALWAYS knew how much change was due ! I think he's gone on now, though couldn't be sure.

Tall King Blox
This guy was always about, city or rovers, pretty sure he was gas though, he was the first kinda big issue seller before big issue....bless me
RedRock
Sad news if that's the case - was a real character and, yes, did always know what change was required. Was also completely oblivious to any 'aggro' brewing near to his 'pitch'!
JudgeRed
I remember Oscar from my days stewarding on match days in the OpenEnd. A lovely guy with as mentioned learning difficulties. A fair few match day staff often worked for both Bristol clubs on match days back in the good old days,
simonwheeler
Remember him well. Sold programmes at Ashton AND Eastville. Very sad if he is now plying his trade "upstairs"
oldstandrobin
Remember Oscar as well one of football's characters. Remember him over at Eastville when we used to go for local derby. Always a grin on his face from what I remember.Sad if he's gone on
Rudolf Hucker
Oscar was a character known to all football supporters in Bristol. Always had a smile on his face. Around that era, there was also a guy who turned up to AG and Eastville each week, selling rosettes (remember them?!). Blimey, rosettes, rattles, no agents, no replica shirts, half-time scores on a board behind the goal at each end, ex-pros becoming publicans. These were the days before ACL injuries (every serious knee injury required a cartilage operation). Wow, how times have changed!
