redsquirrel
Adge spoke fluent Spanish having lived over there for over a year so him preferring Rioja to cider is very possible. That said Mrs Robbo is Nailsea born and bred and served Adge in the Royal Oak in Nailsea many times with pints of cider when she worked behind the bar there as a teenager. They must have sold out of Rioja. she would have served my old man,Terry Ford, with him.they shared many evenings drinking cider at the oak

Tenyards
Pionner of red wine drinking? Really, a pioneer? Before 1975 Teddy that would have been pioneering round here. Never saw pasta until the mid-1970s.

oldstandrobin
In the 60's I used to live next door to The Royal Oak with the old boys drinking scrump from over the road At Coates, in the back room out of white mugs and the song room upstairs where Adge cut DUTC. More journalistic licence by the Pun I think, cant remember them selling Rioja but landlord only let me have half pint scrump at a time. What next...Diddy David Hamilton only liked Guinness ?????
