De Canio To Sunderland?

Dunno. When you cut through his bravado, the bloke talks a lot of sense and has a good outlook on the game. Surprisingly similar to sod, but with predictable unpredictability. A friend at work is friends with a couple of swindon player's. They say he kept them on their toes like no other. There was never predictable routine or favourites. Everything was kept fresh.

I'll be a interested spectator. Could blow up. Could be a massive success

Slightly off subject but kind of related but did any one see Gervinhoa celebrations after he scored for Arsenal ?

Clearley looked like a nazi salute and a quick peek on the bbc site shows it in all its glory. Dirty racist

Van Persie used to do the same, and Gervinho has done the same celebration in the past, it's not a Nazi salute, more of a careless celebration I suppose.

Yes, always have been.

If there was an award for consistent madness over the years, Sunderland would walk it. No other club has such a record of pissing enormous sums of money against the wall for so little result. It goes back at least to the 50's to my certain knowledge.

Celebrate the rise of the far right is just a tad careless. Next time Im arrested for sticking my two fingers up and the away supporters at AG I will claim I was celebrating the Battle of Agincourt.

Ban him I say we dont want his white aryan views any where near football.

It's about having another 'big name' in the game. Same happened when Ince took over at Blackburn and look where that got them!

Hope Sunderland go down now. Sacked a fantastic manager with a squad much similar to ours

Hardly fantastic, look where they are in the table.

He should be pushing a lot higher with the squad he has.

Was only good at Villa cause of the money.

Anyone who plays Titus Bramble clearly hasn't a clue.

It's very hard to comment without sounding bitter.

Yes. He got us promoted and it was great fun most of the time.

However, the aftermath of post-Di Canio Swindon hasn't been at all pleasant. Our then owners seemingly almost allowed PDC to kill the club by surrendering to his demands. Eventually, Andrew Black said 'no more' and removed Wray as chairman (duly appointing an unpopular figure with the task of selling the club). Di Canio eventually resigned citing 'breach of contract'.

He left a fanbase divided. Those who feel that PDC's legacy is so tremendous that the conclusion was irrelevant and shame on us for not accommodating PDC's requests. The others being ever-so-slightly irked with the fact that he allegedly came close to killing us and has been contemplating legal action against us (which did delay the clubs exit out of the embargo).

It's probable that the issues PDC came across at Swindon won't happen at Sunderland (funds). I await with great interest to see how big-wage footballers cope under his management and what sort of player he brings in.

Swindon were his stepping-stone and the project worked out tremendously for him because all of a sudden, he's in the Premier League. I hope this move ends the relations with PDC and Swindon Town so both parties can finally move on.

The national press shall have an absolute riot with this.

I see david miliband has resigned over it. I supose he had to but what a mess when they are trying to survive.

As far as I'm aware the Miliband family escaped from Poland when the Hitlers Nazis invaded that country. So it's hardly surprising that he's getting away from a self confessed Fascist.

Plus several million. The man is an arrishole. No more than one might expect of Swindon but I'd have hoped that the good people of Sunderland would know better.

I dont lik PDC one bit, but I do think he's a decent manager. He done very well at swindon (i wish he hadn't!) and I can defo see him keeping sunderland up this year. He certainly keeps players on their toes and tends to get results. We'll soon see if he's ready for the prem, i believe he'll be ok, although i also think he'll move about a bit because he's a moron!

The Sunderland players are in for a tremendous shock when Di Canio takes over and I'll bet many of them are wetting themselves. That said he could be just what the players needs. A volatile hothead manager whose style is completely unique just might shock them into action and if he keeps them up he'll be an instant hero with the fans.

His fascist political views will be forgotten in what is a very socialist area.
