Why Bother Going?

That is spot on. Great post. Those that think they are supporting, in reality are feeding the greed and the power hungry.

They are a hyena's favourite food.

Fair do's they think they are doing the right thing. But I believe that view is ever so short sighted

if there wasn't any fans then we would go into adminstration, so your saying we should all stop going to stop feeding the club money and not be a club any more.

I'm saying you do what you think is right for the club. I don't think SL and the current board are right. I don't know what you think about them, so that is your decision.

I think long term if it means a few years of hardship as a club we may well be better without Lansdown. He has a lot of change to make to sway me now.

Remember if we go into admin, there would be 1 main creditor. So is administration even a possibility? SL would have to sell up. As the only person to lose would be him as owner. It is his debt not the clubs.

Has he not tied all of his debt to the club though? so if he were to leave, the club would owe HIM? and as far as im aware, he also charges the club interest? correct me if im wrong...

And if it couldn't pay him. Administrators would come to some stupid agreement like 5p in the pound. The club would be debt free. More than likely in a real shite position and SL would be tens of millions out of pocket. So either he sells. Walks away or takes a massive hit trying to get back some money.

What would happen with the assets, who knows. But if it ever came to this, you would find out if SL was a fan, or a millionaire with a plaything.

What are you the king of generalising - "you all goto 1 game a season, and all support Man Utd - look at me , look at me I'm a real supporter" you sound like a pretty dumb **** to be honest.

I am a real supporter, I don't think I mentioned man its either, was Sheffield Wednesday your first game cause you seem like a colossal bellend who doesn't turn up when we are losing, where we're you when we were losing week in week out?

I've been watching city since 1958 which was a relegation season and I was 10 years old.we went from the 2nd to the 3rd division then where we have spent most of our time apart from the heady days of the 70's.My Dad watched them from the 20's til the middle 50's when were 3rd division south. We are what we are and will always be a yo yo team between the 2nd and the 3rd.

Spot on...I started 1957 so cant help but agree

My good mate and I, whose combined time as City supporters totals over 80 years, both said last season that we would not renew. I relented and renewed he didn't and stuck to his guns, and in my view has been totally vindicated. I have never missed so many home matches, in one season, since I became a s/t holder as I have this season. I walked out vs Wolves when we were 0-4 down to a team that hitherto had the worst form in the Championship and vowed that day not to go back until Del was removed. I returned for O'Driscoll's first game at AG, only to miss the Sheffield Weds game, as I couldn't be bothered to travel to Bristol after abject defeats vs Wolves and Derby. Personally I don't give a monkeys if some keyboard warrior thinks he's a better fan than I am. Modern football sucks and I reckon that at least 10% of FL clubs will go bust in the next five years as the game is being progressively poisoned by greed, irrespective of FFP. I look at this 'love' the club thing in simple terns. I love my kids, and always will but if one of my sons stole from us, used class A drugs, mugged old dears etc etc I would struggle to remain the loving caring dad I aspire to be, and show my displeasure in no uncertain terms. I'd still love him, but would be disappointed and disgusted about his behaviour/attitude. A poor analogy perhaps, but the best I can do. I will always be a City fan, it's in your blood, but the BCFC that seduced me almost 40 years ago, bears no resemblance to the soulless shell that the club has become and the likes of Geoff Merrick, Don Gillies, Gerry Gow, Tom Ritchie, Jimmy Mann etc were so much more at one with the club and the fans then than this current crop of mercenaries are. This is no by no means unique to City, I am sure, but then I can't be worrying about what goes on elsewhere, even at Man Utd(?!). As for SL, I would only ask, where were we in the league pyramid when he took over and what debts did the club have, where are we now and how much do we owe, and finally has it been worth it? Sadly, I am inclined to think not and as the man who ultimately makes the decisions, the buck has to stop with our owner, who has made a series of appalling decisions in footballing and business terms that may potentially undermine the club profoundly if he ever takes off. Whatever the outcome this season, and I have long thought we would be relegated, I will not renew this time. for me, enough is enough.

Topics like this why we aren't a big club. Too many fickle fans in Bristol. TURN UP TO EVERY GAME. Support your club.

Look at crewes turn out today. Poor, but a true reflection of the size of their club. Very small town with little catchment support wise. That's who we are competing with. If our fickle so called big city population turned up to games.... Argh to angry to go on.

You didn't answer my question bro, oh and don't try to take the high road because you know your wrong

 - You make make sweeping generalizations about people and get all upset when you get called out on it..... well, it's your fault, if you don't want to be called out for making dumb remarks then don't do it - unless you really do think everyone other than you here has been to one game all season, all support Man Utd etc... in which case it's not just dumb remarks it's rank stupidity that's your problem.

It's been a poor season, but hardly the clubs darkest days.... get a sense of perspective.

Oh god your the dumb one, I haven't generalised anything, I said that YOU, not anyone else you have probably been to one game all season, clear enough now? Yes its been a shit season, but not turning up isn't supporting the team, most people on this forum are fickle no wonder only the eastend sing

I think most parties on both sides of the fence need to chill somewhat on this thread.

I don't think anyone is saying that any supporter is better than the other. I think they're just saying that regardless of what situation we find ourselves in, they will still be in attendance. I don't think anyone will be cheering the lads off the pitch, but they'll be there regardless.

Others are saying they won't go, and that is their prerogative.

For me, I will be attending the final 3 home games and I will be going down next year, and the year after, and the year after etc....

I love my club and want them to do well, but in my 27 years of watching we've gone up and down a few times and it's just life. My main interest in going to games is to socialise with my mates, have a couple of beers, enjoy a bit of banter, have a bit of a sing-song and more often than not I'll leave the ground disappointed in what I've witnessed. Doesn't matter, I'll be there the next week. Yes, I'll call for improvement and will always want us to do better, but I live in the reality that we are what we are, and I'll still pop down to see my mates and have a good time, no matter what league we're in.

I will be attending the home games, I'm supporting the club I won't be clapping the players onto the pitch as I am annoyed and Peed off with them I'll cheer/clap if they score or play good football as I support Bristol City football Club whether its through good times or as it is now bad I will also renew my ST for next season but haven't told the wife yet !

Have we been entertained for the last 3 seasons? No. Has it been enjoyable? No. Does it feel like wasting money now? Yes.

I've walked out before the end of games this season and haven't done that before, why should I waste my time and money again on something I've not enjoyed for 3 years? To call myself a better supporter? Not a chance

Well done pal. Amazing that when City do well, thousands sing "We'll support you evermore" and join in the refrain from "One for the Bristol City": "If they win or if they lose we'll follow them through and through".

Now there's talk on here of booing OUR team onto the pitch!

OUR team? OUR frigging team? OUR team that, even when they're a goal down, can't wait for the final whistle so they can p1ss off down the Centre and p1ss OUR hard-earned against the wall?

OUR team that's bottled it on every possible occasion? OUR team that's got three managers sacked and caused another to walk away when he recognised the signs?

OUR club, yes, but with a few honourable exceptions, not OUR team!

I dare say attendances will fall but will still not reach the depths our inbred neighbours have as they are an all round inferior club.

With a new stadium, a board and manager that care about the club, and fans that dont boo their players on to the pitch. Bet you wish you had the same.

Why turn up for the dreadful drop we all feared but thought it may not happen?Today is the day when I actually think forget about going.give it a rest until next season but don't get fooled by supposed big signings, new stadia or cracking ticket deals.Just give it all a big rest!

...there are many people thinking the same way sorry to say..many other ways to spend time and money and quite possibly get more from it!..my missus has lost count of the number of times she has asked me "how was your footy day out?"and ive replied"good day out-spoiled by the game!!..she doesnt understand,i tell her-maybe she does!

He was talking to one person, where was the word 'all' used at all?. Stop trying to act smart on a forum it really makes you look like a dick.
