No Fergie, No Scholes, No Owen, No Carragher, No Beckham

Football has lost some very inspirational figures this season from the game.

Hope they stick around and teach the kids. Top blokes, top players.

Ah, he so-called golden generation. Strange how they achieved so much at club level, yet never amounted to anything at all for England.

They work very hard to improve themselves. No way they would have the success without hard work.

Yeah, fair enough. Top athletes all of em. Just saying they do lead a charmed life.

His analysis is brilliant, as will Carragher's you'd imagine if Sky have signed him. Difficult to understand criticising one accent without applying the same to another annoying drone.

When will TVs come with a accent filter? Perfect solution imo. Ah well, at least they aren't brummies

Neville has said he's more than likely going to retire.

Petrov was a very decent player, had a great career at Celtic and was a good player for Villa.

Has anyone not had a decent career at Celtic? Easy to shine in a team that pretty much can't lose.

What will owen teach ?

How to pass the time when out injured??

or how to know a top tip on the horses

Probably something about being one of the greatest goal scorers of a generation...

his name is rightly next to some of the greatest players this country has produced in the national goal scoring charts.

It's fixed, They all had a bet on at the start of the season that they would all retire at the end, So if you had a bet on all of them you would have enough £'s to last you a little while longer

In the example of Fergie i would not be surprised. I think Beckham is too well respected for foul play like that however. I know you're only yanking :D

Michael Owen was good for about two years. He's a bit like Walcott - a lot of early hype, could've been better.

He was better than good and for more than 2 years (his hattrick against Germany was in 2001 and his Liverpool debut was in 1997) he scored more than a goal every other game until he moved to Real Madrid in 2004.

Had it not been for injuries there is little doubt that he would have taken the England goalscoring record.
