Nogbad the Bad
@bbcbristolsport: Bristol City cancel pre-season trip to Botswana after a delay redeveloping the country's National Stadium. Fantastic news!! City could visit in 2014 instead.
RedZepperin
I've just negotiated a refund for the rest of my intensive Setswana course from the Botswana Embassy. Things are looking up.
Mighty Squirrel Kingdom
I'm glad it's not going ahead. I didn't like the idea of preparing for League One with a tour like this. Can we play Willem II now please?
hortonred
Just when you think that the club is beginning to be run on a sound and sensible basis , we are reminded that we are Lansdown's toy As his latest absurd plan to fly to some third world country to prepare the team for what is a vital preseason is thankfully camcelled. But presumably now instead of getting SOD's input in to the type of opponents he wants to play we will have to grab who is available,Nice one Lansdown yet another wrong decision. Red Knowle
Still looking at 2014. Think city should be explaining what the attraction is of matches in Africa hardly any of us could get to. Could be another season of more wasted pre season opportunity.
RedZepperin
Still looking at 2014. So they say. I doubt it will happen though.
Admin phantom Posted May 29, 2013 Admin Report Share Posted May 29, 2013 Clevedon game July 6th now (Saturday) Gives them a bit longer to train now, seeing as the players are not back until Monday 24th June, 26th of June did seem rather early
Bowie
Common sense prevails! You have to wonder what sod's views of the place were on his visit there, always sounded like a stupid idea, what's bets we never hear anything about it again
TRL
Anyone recognise this? Pre season friendlies are arranged a long way in advance. For example conversations about a possible trip to Botswana started before Christmas. The manager will have his own schedule in terms of preparing his players for the new season, and senior management will also be looking to make sure that the schedule meets a variety of commercial and community objectives. For that reason it would be just about impossible to arrange a friendly with Willem at this late stage.' I guess we will not be arranging any friendlies if this is to be taken at face value. Be it Willem or some other commercial or community objective. I guess it is just all the local non league scene this season then!
ciderup
So are we not having a tour at all now then?
Nogbad the Bad
The Official Site says members of the Community Trust may continue their trip to Botswana regardless of the teams' absence - coaching and educational projects already lined up. Severncider
I have no doubt that the tour was being paid for by the African hosts, no money from BCFC or SL. Foreign tours are only undertaken if someone else is paying the bill.
Super
Are the club refunding people who have already forked out for this trip?!
