Some moronic activity by several parties by all accounts.... but totally crazy to throw away perfectly good not to mention expensive booze.. even to launch it at someones head ffs.

If I want a head on my drink I order Guiness the last thing 'headwise' Id want to see on my beer would be a gas-head.

Some fantastic goals scored tonight, and a few near misses too, pleased to say that the beer-can morons wete in the near miss catagory,

. On the pitch best team won at least, shame idiots will be grabbing much of the well deserved limelight that should have shone on some of our young City starlets.

Yep, absolutely

Doesn't happen at prem clubs because the 'big' rivalries occur twice a season, Millwall vs West Ham fans on pitch, Blackpool vs Preston fans on pitch, Newcastle vs Sunderland trouble outside the ground, I'm not condoning it just saying it's not just us that have the idiots who run on the pitch or only came to cause aggro, Even Rovers had a fair share of idiots starting on police and n the corner and charging the Williams, That's leaving out the group in our side of the EE and all over the ground, It's a derby that doesn't occur every couple of years, It was bound to happen

Jesus wept.

Without sticking up for any violence that has allegedly ocurred this evening, some people would be better off channeling their moral outrage in more worthwhile directions.

Absolute fuss about nothing even compared to Preston v Blackpool the other day.

That may be so, but it was still pretty shocking IMO

What was? A few overexcited people getting on the pitch? A few wannabe hardmen hanging around the KFC after the game?

Give me strength.

All we are doing here is confirming the Gas narrative of what terrible awful f*ckers we all are.

Leave it to the Post eh?

Must have watched the match with your eyes closed mate, first half we absolutely humiliated them to the extent our oles were met with Gas players putting the ball out of play.

No I didn't. We put together some good passing but didn't exactly pepper their goal with shots. In fact they had more shots than we did by the end.

I have to agree with the OP to a certain extent. It was great to see City win but the night was spoiled near the end by the pathetic few. I was ashamed to be a City fan at the end of the game - and on national TV too. The City fans' reaction to the result was completely over the top and ridiculous.

What I'd like to know is, who made the decision to allow fans to come down to the front of the Dolman at least TEN minutes before the end of the game and hurl abuse and vitriol and make threatening gestures to the Gas players? Banter and singing, yes, but violent gestures and foul language? Some them looked like they actually wanted to jump over the barrier and actually assault the Gas players. Nauseating. Whoever these numbskulls were, they should be idenitified and arrested by the police for threatening behaviour and incitement.

As for the pitch invasion, what a pathetic joke. You would think we'd won promotion, not the first round of an unimportant cup competition. That said, the club could easily stop pitch invasions, if they really wanted to - BAN THEM FOR LIFE! Would you invade the pitch if getting caught meant you were banned for the rest of your life?

A lot of posters on this forum defending and/or dismissing this activity are confusing passion with neanderthal activity. It's possible to be passionate without resorting to violence and incitement.

Pitch invasions never happen at:

Man City v Man United

Spurs v Arsenal

Liverpool v Everton

Chelsea v Fulham

I can remember a big pitch invasion and fighting on the pitch at Fulham v Chelsea two or three years ago. Man City and Man Utd have had some vicious brawls, put it into you tube. I've been to a Mersey derby and seen violence and also sectarian songs being sung.

Punching police horses, throwing corner flags into crowded areas, chucking full beer cans at people's heads and trying to incite a riot. Don't really need it at BCFC to be honest.

First half we had the goal, hit the bar, Flint close header, Harewood had 2 good shots one of which forced a brilliant save!

The Gas midfield were chasing shadows, but you see what you want...

Just watched the game again on tv (great noise btw), after getting home, it was obvious we were by far the better team as soon as we stopped getting drawn into their hoofing and scrapping and played. Apart from 10 minutes near the start of the second half and the end when they were chasing the equaliser we dominated the game.

Like I said, I didn't have a great view as I was up the other end. But our performance didn't excite me like many games have in the past.

Everything about tonight was a bad trip.

It started badly, with the pubs in the local vicinity unprepared for a match of this magnitude. Single-line queues of 20-30 men while two bar staff poured the drinks. Eventually I gave up. Do pub managers not realise how much money they're losing by not employing enough staff to cope with the demand?

The scenes that greeted me on Ashton Road before the game were disturbing, with children as young as seven standing by and some even joining in as their dads/older fans screamed and swore at absent Rovers fans. The worst part was when two Rovers fans, completely minding their own business, walked past and had full cans of beer thrown at their heads. At their ****ing heads. If one of them had been hit, God knows what might've happened. Sickening behaviour and at that moment I felt about as far removed from Bristol City fans as I ever had in my life.

The scenes after the game were, as others have stated, an embarassment. Nowhere else in the country does this happen. Only Bristol. And what's more, every time we appear on Sky. It's no wonder that the rest of the country calls us backward yokels. Not only did the pitch invaders damage the reputation of our club, they probably damaged the pitch as well.

All of which has probably ruined our chance of getting a new ground. Frankly, we don't deserve it.

As for the match itself - it was pretty forgettable apart from the goals. City failed to underline their class against lower-league opposition. There was some slick passing in the opening exchanges but very few scoring opportunities and no real shape to speak of. JET looks quality when he puts his mind to it, but that doesn't happen often enough and he doesn't look as good as Albert. Joe Bryan, Bobby Reid and Marlon Harewood looked excellent - both in terms of quality and application.

On the way out, a man seemed to be fitting on the floor. When police horses went to attend to him, I heard City fans yelling, '**** off horses!' That's right, they were yelling abuse at horses.

A bad end to a bad night.

You have been miserable all week mate.

Even when we beat that shower of shite you still look for all the bad points.

The rest of us had a great time, I feel sorry for you, you can't enjoy being a City fan tonight.

If I was fitting on the floor, I'd prefer paramedics to horses.

Is there a football equivalent of Viagra? I've talked to several neutrals tonight, who saw it on the box and were riveted.

Not everyone had a great time, as some of the posts on here attest. In fact, many people are condemning the behaviour, which made our club look pretty daft in my opinion. Even SOD said it.

I did enjoy the atmosphere in the ground up to that point and, while I thought it was a scrappy game, it was quite engrossing. My view was restricted but a win is a win and I'm happy with all of those things.

But you are generally a negative, anti city at any opportunity type of guy anyway.

This just makes you sound bitter and boring.

I truly wish you some joy into your life before you die a sad, lonely old man who nobody wants to visit in an old people's home.
