Aizoon
When I booked for the Shrewsbury game, I was pleasantly surprised, not only by the advance prices, but by the reduction in the iniquitous POTD mark-up. The penny seems to have finally dropped that football fans don't have unlimited amounts of money to spend. Now, if I can only find that "Livestock, insectivorous, admission of to ground" form, all will be well...
bcfcshorey
Reading it, there's a lot of clubs where it says they have a really cheap ticket... but it's only available for x amount of games. And for the price United are charging for a cup of tea... I'd want it in a bone china cup!
cider-manc
Bristol City commercial director Kevin Smith said: "Following relegation we felt strongly that, in the wake of feedback from supporter groups, the right thing to do was to reduce prices for 2013-14. "The response from the fanbase was very positive and sales were terrific, leading to a positive feeling around the club going into the season. Attendances for three of our early home games this season would be in the top five Championship attendances."
glynriley
Pretty sure I read somewhere that with the new TV deal the Prem clubs have signed, they could reduce tickets prices by an average of £15 across the board without it impacting their turnover. kevinmabbuttshair
Not when they spend a collective £630 million on transfers, Glyn. That was just in the August window let alone, January.
22A
BBC radio claimed this morning Peterborough are in the top 5% of admission prices for league 1. Category A games £20 in advance, £23 POTD; Category B £18 and £21. The BBC sent a reporter to gain admission to the cheapest part of the ground, buy a programme and at half time a pie. Total price £28.90 Cambridge Utd are in the top 5% of admission prices for the Conference. Pies at the Abbey Stadium cost £3. For the JPT 2nd round v Brentford, to encourage fans to attend, prices are slashed to a fiver for the night. Cheapest day out for admission, programme and a pie is Alloa Athletic. Pies are only a quid (don't ask what's in 'em) and £14 to get in. A season ticket is £180.
22A
Last season Ipswich had expensive season tickets. If you knew you would miss at least 4 games, then it was cheaper to POTD. When I started supporting City in the 60's and still in the 70's, a ST gave you admission to ALL first team games at AG; League, League Cup, FA Cup, Anglo Scottish Cup, Friendlies plus Reserves, and Youth team. In 1981 when cash was needed in a hurry, City offered a TEN YEAR ST for £500. For comparrison, a brand new Ford Escort Estate was £5,000. Of course we didn't know if we'd have a club in ten months time, so I don't think too many were sold.
