Nfl Team

I might get thrown off the forum for not posting this in the non football section, but I've decided I'm going to start following NFL more. Watched it on and off for a few years - mostly Super Bowls - but think I need a team to follow so I watch it more.

My question is who to follow? My initial thoughts are the Arizona Cardinals, based purely on the fact they seem most like city (and my union team - Gloucester). Play in red and white, based in south west, bird on their logo, and haven't won anything for years.

Don't want to support a glory team, but want someone with character and who I might one day go and watch (Arizona is only 5 hours from LA).

To be honest NFL is absolute crap.

Everything that is wrong in football is ten times worse in NFL.

that's not to say American football is all the same though. I'd recommend finding a college team to support it's just much more interesting than NFL.

Im a 49ers fan primarily because they were the "home" team when i saw them play the broncos at wembley. Totally agree that college football is more interesting, but it's a bit harder to follow in the UK.

I'd try and get tickets to see a game, and start supporting whatever team it ends up being. Theres 3 games at wembley next season, try and go to one.

Go with the Cardinals, they are the underdogs in the NFC West as Seattle and the stupid 49ers seem to be the main players in the NFC (apparently)

College football is only more interesting because the Defences are poor and a lot of mismatches happen... some of the scores are ridiculous.

Go Northwestern.

NFL = One huge Franchise, Imagine a league full of MK Dons and Cardiff!!!

How would you feel if the Football League moved one of our Home games to America just for TV coverage

It is hardly a sport in my eyes, Just a Corporate franchise, Only interested in making money, The reason it'll never take off in the UK or Europe

Thing is it would in the UK.. The NFL is big over here, 80000+ watching the games at Wembley and now they are stepping it up to 3 games next season... The Europe League was rubbish as it was just rejects who couldn't make it in the NFL.

It could easily hold a franchise here but to me it would be wrong.

I'm a rams fan... Started following them years ago back when they were based in LA and good. I chose them primarily based on their cool helmets!

Now they are awful. Saw them at Wembley, get spanked by the boring Patriots...

Not sure ill ever go to St. Louis either...

Ah well. Every sports team I support seems to be crap! Rugby, NFL and football!

It will never be as big as Rugby or Football, So games would have to be midweek or late at night to get any kind of attendance as people would be watching Football or Rugby during the day on the weekend

Most of the Fans probably travelled from America to come and watch

No I think a lot of British people have a team from the NFL, its more popular than you think.. The majority of my mates love it and the banter is pretty good.

Certainly better than rugby, has to be one of the dreariest sports I've ever had the misfortune to watch

Oooop North the Rugger lot will hate it, That's why I feel it won't take off over here, And us southern folk will be caught up in Football to really get into it

Go pack go!

Green Bay for me. Great history and owned by the fans.

Nfc north is the best division as well!

Yes and if it wasn't for George Stanley Halas who is a Chicago god, legend, icon there would be no Green Bay Packers...

Cant stand the Cheeseheads but they do have a huge fanbase over here (for some reason) don't see why but hey.

I have family near Philadelphia and visit once or twice a year, so I follow the Eagles. I often say they are like the Aston Villa or Everton of the NFL as they are generally decent but have struggled to really join the likes of the Patriots, 49ers etc. They also have a reputation of having quite an aggressive, vocal fan base and have rivalries with the Giants, Redskins and Cowboys. Two key Eagles-related films are "Invincible" and "Silver Linings Playbook", which are worth a watch!

The NFL actually has a fairer, less greed-oriented system than the Premier League. Strangely enough, it's almost socialist in nature!

Youve lost me there.

The Cardinals and the bulldogs sponsored our initial application to the NFL.

As for gods, old GSH is no greater than Curly Lambeau!

The Eagles fanbase reminds me of the Bears fanbase with its aggressive nature.. very passionate about their team but just generally angry ;)

Seen both films, excellent.

I support the Arizona Cardinals myself, in fact I support all sports teams from Arizona. It's pretty much my home away from home, I love the place.

If you decide to join the #birdgang, I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't mention the Cardinals UK fan base on Twitter ( @Cardinals_UK ).

Great group of guys, we have our own fantasy league and so on and so forth.

In fairness, there is a UK account for a lot of US sports teams.
