Falling Out Of Love With This Club

I didn't think this day would come but I'm slowy falling out of love with City. The way the club are handing out life time banning orders to people who's only crimes were trying to get to their cars after being kettled in by South Wales finest at Cardiff or arresting people for running on the pitch against the gas. Or the way the club have made it that if you show any sort of passion in the ground the stewards are on top of you dogging you up like your scum for showing a bit of passion like I had myself against Brentford. I haven't got a problem with the way the club are looking to the future with the kids lots of hard work has gone into the community trust and I appluad the efforts but I think it's gone to far and the club are forgetting about where most of their matchday revune comes from working class/middle class adults.

I used to love that Friday feeling building up to the game and waking up Saturday morning buzzing to get to the game at Ashton Gate but that is slowy being taken away. The standard response is go and sit in the East End or the H block if you want to get behind the team if not sit there in slience and if you show any passion you will ganged up on by the stewards the way the whole match day experience has been watered down has done it for me Ashton Gate has become sterile and boring not only on the pitch over the last few years but in the stands as well.

This is summed up percetly by the way the club handled the East End loads of time and money went into to making that stand one of the best in the country and what do the club do yep that's right shit on all those that invested heavily in it by banning flags and having netting with shitty advertising on it. Or the way they wanted to boot people out of their seats in the Atyeo because they wanted a new family stand again not caring for the majority and how it would upset them. This club seems to be out of touch wirth the average supporter and maybe that's why I feel no conection with this football clun anymore.

The letter that is on Facebook of someone who received a letter from Doug Harman this week telling him that he was banned for life from AG8 is nothing short of disgusting !!

It leaves a real bad taste with me that the club just dish these bans out without any thought

The guy in question, had a previous upper arm injury and was like many of us, kettled by the police after the Cardiff game.

This guys crime was to cry out in pain and swore at the officer pushing him.

One ban for foul language etc, and now a lifetime ban from AG8

I really hope this lad gets the support HE DESERVES from the FSF and puts an end to those jokers in our club !!

I saw that letter to and it does show a real lack of interest and care from our club towards its own fans.

The way fans were treated at Cardiff was an absolute disgrace, by the look of that letter our board are an even bigger disgrace.

Is the REAL disgrace the way that OUR CLUB has not openly backed any of their supporters for the events that day?

Totally, a lot of innocent fans getting and treated like animals and the club just sitting back and agreeing with everything the OB has done... I agree with the OPs original post as they have pretty much distanced themselves from the clubs very loyal support.

Must be best for business....

Agree with sentiments of the OP but he is forgetting one thing; the fans are the club. He is the club - the current owners and shareholders will not be here for life but we will. It's important to remember that. Obviously hard pill to swallow when the owners of the club you love give a "lifetime ban" but is that ban really worth the paper it's written on? After the FBO has ended after 6 years or whatever there could be a new board and the ban won't transfer on to them surely?

"City til i die " or until they do something which pisses me off then they can get stuffed.

That's how i read it.

Not at all, this letter has just been issued - again MONTHS after the Cardiff incident was dealt with.

You clearly don't understand or are just plain ignorant to the FACTS of what happened

.....yep, like me, the supporter of an English 3rd tier football club soon to be 4th tier judging by the way we can't or wont win home league games. Face facts, there hasn't been a regular true glory hunting football supporter at this football club since we were last in the top flight 33+ years ago !!!!!!!

Have you got a link to this?

Out of interest when 'the club' issue a statement, i.e, re. the banning of fans, who exactly is responsible for making it?

Obviously not the author on the website - Adam Baker, for instance is plainly in no position to have any authority - so is it a statement on behalf of the whole board, or is the decision to impose lifetime bans, and the statement, made by one person?

Have to agree with the op real feeling of us and them regarding supporters and the club at the moment. Seems like the club are doing all they can to drive fans away by being treated like dirt for trying to create an atmosphere, blocking off st holders seats at the back of the ee, helping splash fans faces across the media for being being criminals before even being convicted.

It has nothing to do with the standard of football, the whole experience is not enjoyable any more.

Bit different from the time when Colin Sexstone backed the fans who were set up by the West Midlands scum at Walsall :(

Does this club care about its fans at all, or should we all stay at home and send them money in plain brown envelopes?

Years ago i got nicked for being on the pitch at the Reading riot, when there ground was ripped up.

I got to the ground with my mate and his mrs, asked the police which end for away fans, told very sharply in there.

Well surprise, Reading supporters, my mates mrs took her scarf off.

Anyway City to the right started lumping pieces of terracing at us. Lost my friends coz everyone scattering.

Having concrete flying around i decided to hop over a low fence and walk along the touchline.Nicked!

Chucked in a meat wagon, kicked in the ribs as an extra.

Charged with something to do with a bye'law from king so and so centuries before for trespass.

Court, found guilty mainly to do with the riot and ill feeling towards followers of both club? (saying that i was talking to chelsea fans, who came to the match for fun)

Received a letter from the club banning me for life.

Enough! i rang the club told them was not pleased!

Manager Terry Cooper and Chairman Les Kew asked me to come and see them at the next home game.

After talking to them and putting my side over, where they both listened and asked questions.

They both said sorry to me and welcomed me back with a free admission for the game.

They both seem to care about the club and supporters, which sadly does not seem to be the case of todays Club.

Innocent supporters do get dragged into the troubles, and they should be listened to .

The board are weak, and fans dont mean nothing to them.

Indeed, Colin Sexstone - good on him - backed the fans who were set up by the West Midlands Police at Walsall. The very same West Midlands Police force that gave their hopelessly corrupt colleagues at the South Yorkshire Police 'a clean bill of health' following the Hillsborough disaster, when we all now know that statements were fiddled to put the Liverpool supporters in a bad light and ambulances were stopped by Police from attending the seriously injured.

The reputation of this football club has now gone down the toilet with them fully collaborating with the Police against our own supporters.

This club has no idea.

I was on the FP when JL and AB gave me 'facts' about the pub in Cardiff...as a non drinker I have very clear memories of what happened in the pub and it is miles away from what the club perceive as 'fact'.

Also there was no trouble that day other than trouble caused by terrible policing. Poking, prodding, aggravating and threatening. In fact a Cardiff resident (female) was injured by heavy handed policing when she was mouthing off to the escort of BCFC fans. All in all band were handed out to people who were the victims of police bullying.

The club are assuming an awful lot but there are only one group of thugs out there and they carry batons and shields.
