The Kaiser
Credit to you mate. I clapped you on because of the service you gave to this club. I clapped you off because of the football your side played. If I saw us play the football Oldham did then I would be happy. Best of luck fella. Uncle Albert
Could not agree more. Boy did Oldham play football. They were first to the ball every time; they looked like they wanted it more and they made us look pants. Fair play, LJ.

We're admiring Oldham's team of physical players who took advantage of the conditions and still didn't do enough to really deserve to beat us? After our worst performance of the season? I give up if that's what we're aiming for.

I agree, our worse performance of the season by a long way, but I felt Oldham contributed to us being that bad. They contained us extremely well, won the ball off us the second we got it and stopped us from playing anything that resembled football. Just my opinion, of course. Nogbad the Bad
They clearly deserved to win. Absolutely. Half a dozen superb crosses zinging across the City goal, just requiring a touch, and 2 only thwarted by last ditch blocks. Both our full backs being left for dead, as well as Williams when he was out wide first half: absolutely skinned. I thought City were very poor, mostly because half our team simply aren't very good. Oldham were far superior as a team, and in style of play, and we couldn't really have complained if they'd scored 3 or 4.
Admin Ian M Posted November 2, 2013 Admin Report Share Posted November 2, 2013 But for all their efforts they only troubled Parrish twice in the City goal. Wasn't that something we were pilloried by all for against Brentford?

The Kaiser
Is clearing it off the line last gasp twice counting? How about zipping it across our goal after yet again tearing us a new one down the wings? Does that count? We were torn apart and only luck saw it 1-0 HT. Any person in the ground would have seen it. I'll ask the same question asked of City dominating games but not winning prior to this one. Do you get extra points for zipping it across goal (but not scoring)? In the past I have left a ground thinking "how did we get a point today, we mugged them". Today was not one of those occasions for me. I agree we were shite, I just cannot agree that Oldham were deserving of awe.

Esmond Million's Bung
But I think they are good players. I'm sure other teams would love to swap with us.We're just not a team. Well SOD alluded to that in his post match interview, he actually said about imbalance with not playing a specialist left sided midfielder but having to play Reid in a more forward role on the left mainly to cover/back up JET, i'm sorry whose fault is that? is SOD hoping that Reid will suddenly transform into that player. SOD has created a monster, he has to accept that JET leaves us light in midfield at times and he cannot play 2 upfront but has to give JET a back up, which at times means we are almost playing with 2 players taking us out of shape and one of those is being played out of position. fka dagest
Wow we've suddenly gone from a team where the performance was of utmost importance to a team where it doesn't even matter. Instead were pleased as punch about 1-1 draw at home to Oldham Athletic. Kaiser is spot on by the way.
Esmond Million's Bung
All joking aside I listened to LJ's post match interview and I have to say considering all of the abuse he had to soak up in his time with us especially near the end, the guy is total class and has never ever had a bad word to say against us and so it was with his interview today. Perhaps the Sodites who consider he is getting unnecessary abuse should try casting their minds back and they will see he is actually getting an easy ride in comparison. simon uk
You have to say that lj is getting much more from the Oldham players than sod is getting from ours, and I would suspect that Oldham have a much smaller budget than ours. I can accept being beaten by better teams, but the lack of defensive organisation and confidence is squarely at sods door.

Swede
I thought Oldham were over physical all game which largely went unpunished by the totally inept officials Constant pushing, a two footed challenge on Bobby Reid that he only just negotiated and a fullback who, after being unable to prevent the ball going out for a goal kick to us, then decided to pick the ball up and jog to the edge of our penalty area before dropping the ball, all done in full view of the referee, who should have booked him for a blatant piece of gamesmanship. No I'm not having it that they were better than us

NickJ
Oldham played in Lee Johnson's style. Neat and tidy - but with a sense of purpose as well.If that's indicative of how he has got Oldham playing, on limited resources, I'm very impressed - and wouldn't say its impossible he could be a manager at AG. bcfcnick
Anyone listening to Lee Johnson being interviewed on the Oldham player site can't fail to be impressed. I want SO'd to succeed and he has had some success elsewhere. He's refreshingly honest and he stands out as a decent man with integrity. For those reasons I'd like to see him as the man who brings success to the Club but I have serious doubts whether he will. I think Lee Johnson will ultimately turn out to be a much more successful manager. He seems the sort of character who wouldn't desert Oldham mid-season but he has some strong roots in Bristol. if I were SL / JL I'd have him at the top of the list for next season in the event of either relegation or scraping up with no signs of significant progression. He knows the Club ad the City and will know the behind the scenes problems and positives so he wouldn't take much settling in. LJ is achieving much more in terms of performance, player development and results on a much more limited budget. All managers can cite 'transition' but by now SO'd should have the players he and Keith Burt recruited gelling as a unit but there's no evidence of that. Regression rather than transition is the appropriate word right now and 'performance' has been replaced with 'scrapping.' Perhaps Sean can turn it around and I'd be delighted if he could, but I think the Club would feel much more upbeat and have a better winning mentality with someone like LJ in place and he'd work with the pillars.
