Who Do You Want?

It's pretty obvious that there are lots of you that want another change of manager/head coach in as soon as possible. No doubt you have had long enough to mull over the options of who's available and wants to come to our club, so put it all in here.

Who out there is going to come to us that has a decent track record, can work within very strict budgets, develop the young players, attract the best senior players, has a bubbly jovial character in the press room, waves his arms about on the touchline, fist pumps the crowd when walking onto the pitch, ridicules the opposition we are about to play and turn us into a slick well drilled passing team?

Over to you lot, It's all yours.

It's interesting how few replies this thread has had, and how quickly its slipped down the pages tonight. The forum is full of the usual "SOD OUT" suspects, but, with a couple of exceptions, they are notable by their absence on this thread.

SOD out, **** off SOD and so on means absolutely nothing unless you answer the question. So, SOD goes. That means we have no manager. Do you really think that a club with no manager is going to win games?

And the board "goes".......!! Where? And who runs the club? And where will we play?

So, to paraphrase another thread on here tonight, "Bristol City?, Cider Army, Bicester Red Etc Etc"....what's your plan??? Who's the miracle worker who's going to come in and do what the last 5 haven't.

It's dead easy to be negative. What's your solution?

The point is, it's not our job to recruit a new manager. But that doesn't mean we can't recognise that the current one isn't cut out out to do the job successfully.

What makes you think the new manager will do any better? Pretty sure this a tired point now but we thought that about each manager since Johnson left..

I'm as baffled as anybody why so many managers seem to fail miserably at this football club. You can't blame the board for picking McInnes and SOD, as both were successful elsewhere. I honestly don't know what the alternative is but personally I haven't warmed to SOD at all. Apart from his abject results and complete lack of fight at the end of last season, I find him surly and arrogant. I just don't love his BCFC at all

It's not our job to sack managers either. But that doesn't stop some making suggestions. Sometimes with tedious frequency.

All I'm saying is that it would be good to know who they think is cut out to do a better job. Some positive suggestions, instead of constant negativity.

We've had Colin hollowhead and pulis suggested. and now aa n coach ! does anybody really think a foreign coach with any proven ability would come and work in the English third divisikn ? so shall we go for a inexperienced English coach who knows nothing about English football ? the Walsall manager is quite a good shout except he,d want to bring his own staff with him so we,d have to throw more money at the wall and start all over again. I honestly believe that Ed are unlikely to get a better manager than sod, let's show some bottle as a fan base for once forget personal agendas and pull together to help the club that we all say we love out of this mess. if we are concentrating on booing and abusing the players and coach we are not doing our job as supporters we are only helping the opposition, if people feel that they must demonstrate their dissatisfacton let them direct it at the right culprits _ the ones sitting in the directors box !

The board (if you can call them that) always seem to go with what the forum suggests, do they or would they know what a manager is all about.

They have very little contacts within the game (if any) so it seems they read the forum and go with what the fans suggest!

Look where that has got us.

This doesn't make any sense.

Whether we choose to accept it or not, rightly or wrongly (rightly for me) the owner and board have set the club up to run without throwing significant money at the first team and addressing the past weakness of poor scouting and poor use of the academy while slimming the wage bill. This may sound simple for most normal clubs but this club hasn't behaved normally for at least 10 years.

Forget what you knew about the club and how it has behaved for 10 years, look at it in the cold light of day and ask yourself who has all of the qualities I have set out and can work in the strict guidelines set. We are not going to be spending our way out of it.

O'Driscoll may have had a fairly bad start, but we haven't been outplayed by anyone so far, bar possibly Posh. We have drawn too many games, played some poor halves, made some very poor individual mistakes which have cost us dearly. So who will want to/ who can come in and pick up O'Driscolls team and change them in 5 minutes. And forget names like Holloway/ Warnock etc. they will want money which we aren't spending anymore.

I don't think anyone expects a new manager to change things "in 5 minutes" but we might have a hope of changing our relegation-bound course before it's too late.

As to who: There are more than 90 out-of-work former managers and that's before we consider ex or current  players who are assistant managers and the like,  qualified coaches looking for a step up, and even successful overseas managers.

The idea that SOD cannot be replaced because there is no-one available out there is rubbish, as is the idea that no-one who would want to come here could match the lofty achievements of Sean. He isn't achieving.

What IS a moot point, is whether another manager would be better and can save us.

Well nobody apart from a clairvoyant could know that. However you do not need to be able to read tea-leaves to see where we are likely to end up in May under the current administration.
