Protest Against The Bans (Merged)

I can see this escalating now Rob. People will be demanding their chips on plates in the Dolman Bar next.

For pity's sake City, reinstate our hooligans NOW before it spirals completely out of control.

RegC, do you not feel some of the life bans are over the top?

I know of one person, who acted foolishly at Cardiff, he was later arrested and placed before he courts. He did not hit anyone during that day etc.

The courts decided, that no banning order was needed and he was left with a 1 month youth offender referral which has now of course finished.

The club wrote to him, to make him sign a behavioural order, which basically says you have to behave at Ashton gate. He fully understood that his mistakes at Cardiff, however small was not acceptable, he signed the contract and was happy.

The courts did not impose a banning order of any length on him, they did not see it was fit. He assumed the matter with the club had been already dealt with, due to them making him sign this behaviour order.

5 months down the line, he nows finds himself banned for life from Ashton gate.

Is he a hooligan, no. Simply someone who foolishly got over excited and drank too much at a young age.

Why does the club feel a life ban is needed, when the police didn't feel he was any threat at all, therefore no banning order?

leftwingfullback it was meant *slightly* sarcastically, but then again I'd be interested to know what you class as "acting foolishly" at Cardiff? You say no-one was hit but to be arrested, found guilty & punished appropriately by the justice system does make me wonder wether you're backing the right horse, so to speak, in your argument?

So far the only side of these bans that I've heard are the fans side. Which could be quite one sided and biased. I'm by no means chucking the book at them as they very well may have done nothing wrong. But until I've seen a balanced argument from both sides I can't comment, nor protest. I'm sure people on here know those who have been banned or were even witnesses to the events that led to the bans, but I get the feeling that you don't ban your paying costumer for no reason at all.

This club is falling apart behind the scenes and something, anything needs to be done to protest against how they are treating people for banning orders and other things that go on.

If it starts with a silent protest and escalates from there then I'm all for it. The club have a lot of work to do, somebody within the club needs to grab this by the horns and listen.

Have you not honestly heard enough people stories to get the message yet ?

Don't get this confused with the Rovers incident!!

I would suggest that person visits a solicitor. The club can ban whoever they want from their own premises, but that reads like they have broken their own contract made with another party.

I was at the cardiff game and how some of our fans were treated by the old bill was shocking yet the club seem to be chucking out banning orders like there's no tomorrow.

Its about time the club started listening to fans from that day because some of the reasons I've heard for banning orders is laughable. How many police have been punished from that day because they were a disgrace?

I'm aware that these bans are not for the Rovers game as the police seem to be dealing with that. And as I said I'm sure many are not guilty or deserve bans, however there will be a few that do, and anyone who gets a football ban will protest their complete innocence. But as I also said that I know absolutely no one who has been given a ban. In summery what I'm trying to say is that I am not on anyone's side in this.

Fair point - thank you for the explanation

While some of the bans may have been issued harshly and with extreme prejudice I find it hard to understand the point of protesting.

At the end of the day the likelihood is that the protesters will end up..being banned.

And the bans will never be revoked anyway.

Life is not always fair, we all know that. Sometimes you reap what you sow, sometimes you just get the potty end of the justice stick.

An no, this is not Berlin in June 1945 either, lets have some perspective, just for once...pretty please.

So underage drinking, goading the police escaping from the escort.

Did none of his friends think of telling him to have a word with himself? I agree by the way that a life ban is harsh, but generally most people have a word with their mates if they think they are going a bit OTT, and winding up plod and escaping the escort is hardly going to made you citizen of the year.

Young and a bit daft. Players did worse. Hokey cokey with wheelie bins ..

Maybe the pub should had been stricter on id?

I didnt mean running down the road from the escort, I simply meant, like trying to walk through two police officers.

No one had a word with him, as it appeared nothing he was doing was going to warrant anything. He didn't appear to be going over the top.

If he was there smashing and jumping up and down on a Cardiff fan, then yes that's understandable, but it wasn't.

Your saying goading like he was asking the police for fights, he was more being a pain in the ass.

So this lad is now banned for life, are there any convicted peadophiles at Ashton gate? I certainly know who I would rather be sat next to any yogi city fans Etc.

He didn't punch anyone, he didn't throw coins, he didn't push anyone. Life ban for that?

If city player gets caught fighting in town, would they deal with them in the same manner. We all know the answer to that.

Odd you mention the hokey cokey. The man who wrote the song died last week following a long illness. He was 93.

Whilst his family are pleased he is no longer suffering, they were distressed at the sight of the undertaker putting his body in the coffin.

It does sound a bit harsh, I'll concede that. BUT he's only got himself to blame for it. AND if the club are actively seeking to dissuade others from doing the same, then perhaps this will act as a deterrent for others tempted to get pissed & act up in what was always going to be a day when emotions were running high.

I bet he wouldn't have been so "foolish" had he not been drinking.
