No thanks. You only have to look at what a decent manager like MacKay did when he came in to Cardiff. Jones was a failure at the top of the league with good funds so what would he be like these days with small funds in a league he hasn't managed in for years. He was also a failure at Wednesday who have been struggling for a while. He would been in a similar situation at City (ie the club has been doing poorly for a while now) and I wouldn't be confident he could improve things long term.

Didn't he get Sheff Wed promoted when they were skint ?  I suppose you could class the latter part of his time at Cardiff as similar to Danny Wilson with us, did a good job but didn't get across finishing line.

When he joined Sheff Wed they were already doing pretty well so although he gets some of the credit, I wouldn't give him too much especially as Wednesday had one of the biggest budgets in League 1.

Agree about the Danny Wilson bit...I'm not sure I need that repeated again year after year.

They were 3rd in the league when Megson left.

God no... Remember him at the end of the season mocking our downfall?

Bad fit for the club, too much baggage, seemingly losing pace with the changing game and a personality-less grump.

With all due respect to Dave Jones and none to our board, right now, he would not be the most inspirational of choices.

The board simply must appoint someone who is inspirational or sensational.. one of the two will probably go down well with the fans, the press and the football community at large. I am not so sure the pillars will ALL remain standing however and therein lies the dilemma for a board who may rue the day they sacked SO'D.

In the event Cotts is appointed you will hear an almighty groan from the majority of City fans. I truly would believe the board have completely lost the plot if they go down that route because he is a hoof ball specialist. Lets just hope in the event they don't we are not lumbered with someone equally uninspiring.
