The Dolman Pragmatist
Once upon a time in the strange & mysterious land of Ashton Gate, we appointed as manager a balding welshman who turned out to be none too popular. The story goes, that at that time a young flame haired scotsman was keen to try his luck with us...........but in the deep dark recesses of the boardroom something stirred, Gaseous fumes prevailed, and that young prince now finds himself, on this very night, bestriding the hallowed kingdom of Old Trafford. Now wisdom dictates that those who ignore history are doomed to repeat their mistakes....so I was wondering, seeing as we have just appointed a none too democratic choice to manage our beloved club.........which young up and coming manager will we regret (in the course of time) not approaching. Its probably a little early for Mr Johnson Jnr, but you get the gist. And if we'd stuck with Pulis maybe he would have got us into the Championship before 2007... zyderiup
everyone's wonderful in hindsight Apart from McInnes or SO'D or Tinnion ...... or Jimmy!!
Aizoon
Great isn't it? Probably get about half as many dubious penalties in future since Ferguson isn't there to bully and intimidate refs, too. Doesn't Cotterill have something of a rep in that direction, too? City1970
PNE gave Moyes the tools and backing to become an up and coming manager at the time. We appointed Pulis who turned out to be a disaster for us. Hindsight is marvellous.

hortonred
that's interesting. I always thought that it was Scott Davidson that wanted Moyes. interesting to now here he capitulated to the "money". I also thought it was Davidson who pursued Moyes and was let down by Laycock and his cronies
glynriley
Wasn't Peter Taylor also in the frame?
Murraysrightplum
Uwe Rosler maybe. Although he wouldn't come here and is off to Wigan probably. IMHO the managers out there ATM are poor and/or wouldn't drop down to the bottom of L1, which makes the sacking of SOD more baffling.
BCFC_Dan
I'm pretty sure it was Peter Taylor who was the other choice when Pulis was appointed. Or perhaps that was when they chose Fawthrop? Davidson used his casting vote to support Laycock because Laycock had backed him over Lennartson and he had to repay the favour. I don't know which way Lansdown voted but I think he was in the Laycock camp.
alexukhc
The Fawthrop, Roseinor and Burnside, was my favourite management team, for the life of me I can't remember what happened, something leak to the press about a past business venture?
