Dave Lloyd Very Quiet On East End Events?

See my previous post - Where's your criticism for the rest of the fanbase for not turning up at the AGM?

I posted something with exactly the same sentiment at the time, thanks for your concern. People come on here crowing and bitching about everything under the sun and suddenly disappear when an opportunity comes under their noses.

I only have limited knowledge of constructing football stadiums, however my experience of wind turbines will lead me to think they will need a large area to set up a crane; something which can't be afforded other than by going on the pitch (the lifting radius from the williams/winterstoke car parks will be too great for the Dolman end of the east end). Will be interesting to see how they will protect the pitch regardless of whether its desso or not. My bet is on the use of temporary trackway such as Megadeck but no idea what sort of impact this will have on the pitch (and associated infrastructure eg drainage) which is below.

....it'll be a lot less bovver with a hover-crane ....   simples

DAVE L ...

I wonder if the club would consider having a professionally made & edited DVD of the EastEnd's last match?

Coverage of what hopefully will be a lively but emotional carnival atmosphere, the East End means so much memory-wise to so many past present & no doubt future Bristol City fans.

Its history through different eras & generations of supporters (inc experiences good & perhaps sometimes not so good of visiting fans through the years) the changing fashions from packed in cloth-capped woodbine & pipe smoking old timers, wooden rattles in hand, through the braces & turned up Levis, tonics and DMs skinhead era, the longtime bog roll streaming days ..the bygone surging & swaying with the crowd (un-forgettable, obviously in hindsight dodgy) but so exhilarating too, right through to the all seated modern day, flags and surfer, 'fan-art' times...

The stand has hosted & seen it all during its time, I'm sure there are many many stories out there to be found & it would be great to hear some of those in interview or 'voiceover' form or in written text quotes superimposed on screen...

With thought & planning a well made & presented history & final match day documentary DVD of the much loved EastEnd would appeal to so many people & make the club some welcome cash.

I well remember as a young kid sitting on the old wall by the floodlight tower watching and soaking up the EE's unique atmosphere, graduating to bruising up my heels while foot drumming the old corrugated iron sheeting at the back of the old place.. the chanting of Gibbo Gibbo etc when Alan Dicks's men took to the field & Gibbo saluting us with his crossbar hang. That was 'my' EE days, my early City days Galley, Garland, Skirton, Sharp, Kellard, Wimshurst, Jacobs(RIP), Drysdale etc days...

Everyone who lived through good times/bad times with the City viewed through whatever era from the East End will have cherished memories of youth & maturity from their days in the old stand... Its always been scruffy, rough & ready never been pretty but its always had a kind of charisma (if a few sheets of metal, some view obscuring pylons, concrete steps and crush barriers (from my time) can have charisma then that's what it had), it felt like 'home' for a few hours every other week.

I've rattled on enough, but :

If possible please BCFC consider making this DVD, it will sell well, and it will be well received by generations of Reds..

It's a one-off opportunity to make something special, historic & lasting, include interviews from past & present players and staff too, I wish good old Buster Footman the physio RIP was still around I'm sure he'd have some words to say about EE banter.

:city: ITS GOTTA BE DONE..... hasn't it???   :city:

What is posted on WTMS the basis of what was said, if anything missed please post.

The club had various staff  there and answers are mixed between the club officials:

Q: Where will the away fans be going?

A: In the Atyeo, but not decided which side yet due to the fact there are current season ticket holders and the family section who we need to speak to like we are with you guys tonight, thoughts are the Atyeo would possibly be split segregation not to much difference than the current East end.

Q: Is there scope to provide unreserved areas in a stand e.g Williams E-F?

(although at first the club bods seemed puzzled by the term unreserved as EE tickets have seat numbers, once explained it was yes)

 A. Yes the club will look to put 500 seats in the area of Williams D, E & F Blocks

Q: What will the tolerance to some forms of so called bad language be seeing that some songs and chants heard in the Eastend contain the odd p's & q's?

A: Common sense will be applied however please have a look around you and self assess before using certain forms of language but be mindful that aggressive language inflicted to any persons getting in to peoples faces would not be tolerated, fan to fan or fan to staff..

Also please be mindful of the recently installed disabled section in the Williams as they had a torrid time during the Bristol derby with city fans trying to climb over them to get at the Rovers fans.

At this point, it was pointed out this was rare and would not happen due to a building site with no away

fans next to the stand to attract this type of behaviour and flash points tends to be near the away fans

but are more rare these days.

Q: Can fans that are in the East end now transfer out this season to other stands?

A: Yes, call the ticket office for details.

Q: If fans moved to this Williams D, E & F Blocks then what bar facilities would be available?

A: There is the legends bar (although a small room with limited numbers) and also kiosks which sell alcohol, We can also move the EE natch bar over to the Williams if needed.

Q: Can we still use the flags on poles in the Williams area?

A: Yes in the lower area but be mindful of the weather conditions and Justin (the new safety officer said to the lad asking the question) I noticed one of you trying to fly it in high wind the other week and you almost got blown over so just want to make sure you are safe and those around you but yes no problem with flags on poles and this is also the case with the surfer flags.

Q: What will the tolerance to standing be as regards to the current East end?

A: Let's make it clear Ashton gate is an all seated stadium and in various areas of Ashton gate like the Dolman stand zero tolerance to standing will be applied, however in areas like the lower rakes of stands like the Williams for example some common sense would be applied but we have to state again Ashton gate is an all seated stadium. Also zero tolerance to standing will apply to any segregation area in the Atyeo.

Q: Cardiff have an official standing area so can Bristol city?

A: Not quite true it is not an official area and people jumped the gun in the media, however they do use a common sense approach a bit like the East end but again the official line is All seated stadiums until such time any legal legislation changes

Q: If you choose a stand to move to but do not like it then can you transfer to another stand and so on?

A: Yes that should not be a problem and call the ticket office

Q: Will any current East end prices be reflected in another stand e.g. areas next to a building site?

A: The club will see that the East end fans moving would get a fair price and further announcements will be made after consulting the rest of the stands .

Q: Souvenir seats. Will these have a price?

A: Yes for a small donation to the community trust no priced fixed as yet and we will be looking to do an open day for fans to come and take pictures and talk about souvenirs, buying stuff will need to be assessed as if someone wanted to buy part of the stands pillars then you would need to wait until the contractors can safely take it down. But please help us police things on the last home game as we don't want people ripping up stuff and taking it on that match day...

Q. Would the club consider selling some commemorative memorabilia e.g Robin badge with profits going towards flags or artwork?

A: You would have to speak to the retail manager in the city shop as he is not present tonight but we would not rule it out, but yes based on your designs come and have a chat.

Q: Will the area in front of the building work feature advertising, or could this be used for fans flags/artwork on boards?

A: Yes parts possible advertising but no reason why flags and art can't go up with it..

Q: If a significant number of fans move into the Williams stand E-F would it be possible to move artwork on boards from the East end into the concourse?

A: Yes art work can be moved over get in touch to arrange this.

Q: Will there be a commemorative programme, and could this feature pictures of matches of the East end this season e.g. Swindon?

A: Yes but it is planned for the Preston home game as the club are doing a memories theme day in aid of Alzheimer's group, but also could put more in for the Crewe home game programme.

Q: Can supporters in other stands transfer into the Eastend in advance?

A: Yes speak to the ticket office.

Q: If City are allowing as many fans as possible into the Eastend, will this mean City fans who occupy H block will have to move for the support of Crewe?

A: All depends on the scenario of the game ie: relegation or safety for both teams and how many

Crewe fans will come, we will try and find out in advance but thoughts are around 4-500 will come from Crewe, however we will do everything possible to get as many city fans in to the Eastend who wants to be in there.

Q: Would it be possible to have some form of confetti/streamer display in G-H block, and would fans be expected to clear up post display?

A: Yes but come and have a chat with the new safety officer (Justin) to bring him up to speed on how this works.

Q: Can we bring in inflatables for the last home game?

A: Yes as long as it is not offensive ie: no blow up porn dolls or inflatable cocks but sheep are ok..

Q: Would there be some sort of party or celebration to commemorate the Eastend?

A: Yes the club are looking in to doing something, maybe a band for some fans from the Eastend

although we know some of you will be at the three lions flag day,

Q: To Stuart Rogers (chairman of the supporters club and trust) Would the trust also consider doing a party to celebration to commemorate the Eastend like their forthcoming event of the 40th anniversary of FA cup Leeds v City? and invite former players..

A: Yes the trust could look at doing something, we were going to do a book about Ashton gate memories if we moved to Ashton vale, obviously this is not going to happen but we can rethink and look again at doing something..

Again!! Maybe right about numbers good v poor? not really the point, what is the point enough were in the room were the right ones to get an idea across for those who are asking the same questions that were asked the other night. Again!! You don't need to be 200 handed to do that. Others with a different view in the stand missed their chance to put forward an idea but still have their own choice where they would like to go.

I have read social media twitter, face book, some of it is helpful but a fair bit isn't with fan vs fan, who has the biggest ego (go read it) and no time for that it does not help things. I didn't speak for them, they will move to the Williams stand or they don't. It appears there will be a clear choice and up to fans what they do and no one is telling anyone THE MUST GO HERE OR THERE... But the main point to the meeting is now there seems to be the basis of what you can and can't do in certain stands and that is what people should start thinking about when moving anywhere..

19 a 'pretty good turn out'?

Seriously?

Well it was on a school night I suppose...half the EE Ultra were probably watching Hollyoaks.

Yeah seriously. I'm used to local politics. Any meeting that has this sort of turnout is pretty good. This was a meeting about what will happen at the Crewe game. Lansdown had not provided topless bar staff or piles of coke on plates attached to dwarf heads.

Just a thought but maybe it was better there was 19 instead of 200 odd, with 19 its a big enough number to get different views but a small enough group to manage, had there been 200 not everyone would have been able to have an input. Too many cooks and all that. I personally would like to thank the 19 fans for giving up their time to represent the EE and for trying to make the last day special and attempting to cone up with a solution where we can carry the EE spirit on in another stand.

Exactly the questions asked were good and the answers weren't rushed to get more questions from people.

Thank you for those that attended good questions.

Will the When The Moon Shines robin with the Avon gorge in the background artwork move over to Williams? Or have it placed somewhere?

So there were no topless birds OR class A drug-bearing dwarves, you say?

Why oh why can't the club get the simple things like this right, and look after the ordinary fan?

Board out!

It isn't a thought. There were a small group of individuals there who can direct hundreds into a section of the ground, and did in 2007.

What does it matter if there were 19 or 1,900 who turned up? So long as some did and as a result some ideas came forward and decisions were made as a result of those ideas then that is what was set out to be achieved.

Seems as if it was very productive and credit to all all involved.

As a footnote I wish it were possible for the entire East End to be City and no away fans just one last time.

If this is an offical "My Dad" thread it matters a lot. There are protocols to be followed set down by the OTIB scene Police. Several cubic square miles of hot air have to be posted first. Eyes are burning because there are those who achieve things and influence others, and that is wrong.

Thanks for those 19 supporters who asked some of the questions I wanted to know.

I must admit I am very disappointed that the whole of the east end will not be given to the home fans for the last time. I am trying to come up with some ideas of how we can get over this. Could the club not ask the atyeo fans if they would like to transfer over for this game? If large numbers took up the offer, then perhaps the remaining fans wouldn't mind if one section of the atyeo would be given to crewe fans. So we need to ask them now if they would like to do this, because we would need to know the numbers.

The benefit is that it would be like a practise for the away fans being in the atyeo next season.

If the Atyeo fans do not take up the offer perhaps we could ask the Williams.

Just another thought, do you think the stewards will allow us to stay for as long as possible, so we can leave after the game when we want to?

Seems like a sensible idea.

One end of the Atyeo is going to be moved next season anyway, so it's going to happen whether they like it or not.

The block nearest the Dolman always seems to be the least filled, and knowing the lads in there are vocal supporters am sure they would be up for moving that day anyway

I would imagine the williams end of the atyeo is most likely to be the location for the away fans; the other end of the atyeo is probably too close to the dolman to give the clearances between fans the club seem to like without cordoning off loads more seats in the atyeo.

Did they give any indication as to how much segregation (seats lost) will be in the atyeo next season. I still think having the away fans right next to the tunnel at the ONLY end of the ground is a silly idea. Would be much better to shove them down the east end side of the dolman. Only problem I guess would be getting out of the ground for both sets of fans!

The problem I see is the East End walkway is most likely going to be closed off next season, so all fans in the Dolman will have to exit out by the Atyeo. If away fans were put into the Dolman side of the Atyeo then there is more chances of fans coming together where as at the Williams side there would be less chances of that.

Long term I dont think housing them in the atyeo is the best idea. Currently it is able to be managed quite well. Away fans generally enter by Winterstoke Road and for the high risk games the EE walk way can be closed.

I think they should be put into the top tier of the New Williams, the entrances will be roughly the same place as they are now and it will give us the advantage of having both ends and their support will be lost up there in the top tier.
