Crawley...

One Team In Keynsham

Recommended Posts

Different sport, but back when I lived in Manchester, worked with a lad who was a Wigan rugby league fan:  due to a backlog of their own one season, they faced a run-in of 8 games in 18 days (just Googled and see that they played Tuesday, Friday, Monday, Thursday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday).  Hopefully Crawley get the same back-log, but prove less successful.

This is the thing; it COULD work to their advantage, if they hit a bit of form.

Since losing at our place, they've only played ten league games, losing just twice (to Crewe and MK Dons) and winning the same number (at home to Notts County and interestingly away to Orient).

That isn't totally awful form to be honest, taking 12 points from 10; not great, yes, but they did play five teams currently in the top eight.

Granted, they drew then lost to Rovers in the cup over that period, but then we did the same in our last promotion season out of this league, so that doesn't mean much.

Get the feeling that they'll probably be okay, unless their squad picks up a bunch of injuries in key positions.

I do agree that momentum can carry teams and may well help them.

What would help us, is bad form, and key injuries stretching them at a vital time.

That said, we should be less concerned about what Crawley, or any other team, might or might not do, and just ensure we keep safety in our hands:  which it is, and as last night showed, anything is possible.

Ain't this the truth; we should be aiming to get ourselves clear under our own form, not that of other.

Their game tomorrow against Carlisle is in doubt. Would be a bonus two teams down there not playing and us picking up points

COME ON YOU REDS

On paper that could only be good for us. As you say both are near the bottom and it will just add to Crawley's fixture pile up. Plus I can't imagine Carlisle will fancy making such a long journey on a Tuesday night having made it already for this weekend's game.

When you actually look at the home games they have left they have a big influence on both ends of the table

Peterborough

Leyton Orient

Wolves

Sheffield Utd

Colchester

Crewe

Stevenage

Carlisle

and us

If games continue to be postponed do they play more than 2 games a week or play beyond the scheduled end of season? Just the play offs are supposed to start a week or so after the end of season. Just wondered what would happen. Considering we're supposed to be last game of the season atm.

They would have to play 3 games a week Tue, Thu, Sat. I'm sure this has happened in the conference before

Massive benefit to us then, size of their squad they could really be running on empty by the end of the season, or if they really rotate their whole squad then their previous results could mean they're in real trouble and potentially down when they play us.
