Mr Mosquito
There's been a lot of debate on the BBC with various Lib-Lab-Con politicians harking on about Scotland needing to remain in the UK. All of a sudden a lot of these Lib-Lab-Con claim Scottish ancestry and thus partial Scottishness. Writing as someone with absolutely no Scottish bloodline - and my only connection with Scotland is that I once had a rather lovely Scottish girlfriend - good luck to the Jockstraps because if they vote for independence they'll automatically be kicked out of the EU. If I was Scottish I'd be voting for independence from the UK so as to have EU membership automatically terminated.
Fiale
They are probably the most pro EU part of Britain though. I doubt they will get kicked out to be honest, though Spain will likely want it, Scotland has a lot of friends in the EU being A left wing, pro European nation. ...
I have a lot of respect for the Scottish Independence Party. They have done really well up there. I would imagine the Cornish Independence Party would do quite well in ....................... Cornwall. If dogs could vote, they would vote for the "I hate cats party". Democracy gone mad? I think niche politics is the way forward: FOR EVERYONE!!
Mr Mosquito
They'll vote out of UK to avoid having Tory policies forced on them, good luck to them. ....you could argue that with Scotland being in the UK that we've had anti English and anti working man policies forced on us by the likes of Scottish pseudo socialists Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. reddevon
"if they vote for independence they'll automatically be kicked out of the EU" Does this then mean they are then kicked out of England/Wales as a non-EU citizen?

RedRock
Think of the positives. If they go, Scotland can have its own time zone allowing us English to enjoy long balmy light summer evenings here on the South Coast. No blue on our national flag either. Igniting a nationalistic fever though is a dangerous game ..... I suspect minorities in all of the UK will be praying for a no vote. If they're not they should be methinks. Barrs Court Red
Why ? Surely Independence means exactly that You'd think...but no, they would have duel citizenship. The whole thing just doesn't work. The separation would be a nightmare to administer. For example, pensions. I have a feeling a yes vote may be a possibility. RedRock
Duel citizenship - no way. Whatever remains once Scotland goes will be new and nothing to do with what exists now. If they vote to go our relationship will be the same we have with the French. So they can shove their Whisky where the sun don't shine. First move of the English government will be for cider to go tax free, funded by a 1000% increase on Scots Whisky. Bring it on.
Calculus
If an independent Scotland decided to join the Schengen Agreement we would either have to join ourselves, or set up immigration controls on the border. The more I think of the referendum, the more irritating I find it that we are not allowed a say. If the scots decide to go then it will effect all of us drastically in all sorts of ways. Red-Robbo
Adamant because of all of the investment made north of the border, if labour only had 1 mp in jock land they wouldn't give a shit. Labour has always been a unionist party north of the border. Historically, it's only in comparatively recent decades that Scotland has become a Labour stronghold. Until the 1960s, it elected more Conservatives than Labour MPs.

As befits a country that produced Adam Smith, quite possibly the most influential economist of all time. Although many of them could do with a refresher course in 'the Wealth of Nations' and 'the Theory of Moral Sentiments'.
