formerly known as ivan
Seen these names pop up a lot in the 'best players' threads. So who would you go for if you could have one back in their prime? Have we ever had a better free kick taker than mickey? Brennan went on to better things. Though choice to make and thats without adding martin scott to it!

fka dagest
I always thought Darren Barnard topped the pair of them. We have been spoilt with left backs in the past.
demet78
Always Barnard for me better than both! That's what's good about football everybody's opinions are different
Aizoon
Bell as long as I could have Tinnion with him. Awesome combination!
Welcome To The Jungle
McGivern, best left back for generations... Seriously though...Bell
WTFiGO!?!
Martin Scott was one of my first City favorates. I could see he was class even as a ten year old.
Superjack
Barnard, then Scott, then Bell, then Brennan. John Bailey wasn't too shabby either!

Taylor10
Didn't Brennan play a few at right back as well? I remember Barnard and rated him highly. Such a tough call between him and Bell for me but I would have to go for Mickey! Legend!
Swede
For me 1) Bell 2) Barnard 3) Brennan 4) Scott Barnard could take a great set piece & could defend but never thought he had a lot of pace Brennan had so much pace going forward. Scott was a fantastic defender but for me Micky had it all. A great player.
Red Homer
Scott, Bell, Brennan, Barnard, not necessarily in that order!

KeepUpLino
Barnard, then Scott, then Bell, then Brennan. John Bailey wasn't too shabby either! I always remember john bialy swallowing his tongue at twerton and the gas somehow getting a penalty for the pleasure... I was only a youn'un at the time and was in the gas end with some of my dads friends... Twerton got trashed that ngt

1960maaan
Common denominator Brian Tinnion ? Barnard was a brilliant footballer , Bell had the longevity , Martin Scott the best defender , and Jim Brennan the quickest ..... or was he, Brian Drysdale ? We were truly blessed for a long spell. As for John Bailey , we went to a pre season friendly (pos Mangotsfield) and after the game we weere in the bar and JB sneaked in for a crafty bottle, still damp wrapped in a towel ! One more to add Stuart Munro.

BristolCity1992
I loved all the ones mentioned in this thread, McAllister was decent too but not up to their standard. Those players all inspired me to be a left back even though I am naturally right footed.

Ecko
Bell never scored a tap in. Remember clearly those two goals he scored against Cambridge, I think, at the Gate. Lovely free kick on him too.

ciderup
Geoff Merrick when he had to move to LB after Norman hunter signed. Merrick was absolute class! Out of the three mentioned, I would probably say Barnard.
