Well NOTR,

I doubt if anyone will be that bothered..

Apart from all the knob heads on the pitch waving there bums at gas heads and throwing corner flags and bottles of piss, the ones in south bristol were left alone... Perhaps city's gone soft?? Just sayin like..

Could always be worst mind, our fans could attempt to charge at a disabled stand, and throw coins at a young ball boy??

I managed to get out and away from all that crap , I vowed never to go to whichever ground they were squatting at from that day, and I've stuck to that.

My first derby game, a 4-1 at Eastville and it doesn't get much better,  but also suffered through their short 'will you ever beat ...' years , would not miss them if they went POP !

That 4-1 was my first derby too, so I had a horrible start to watching them. I never enjoyed the build up, I was a nervous wreck.Even during that great run for us when we seemed to have some sort of hex over you , the fact that you rarely beat us, just made me more nervous about it, thinking that the run had to end eventually.

I miss them to a degree, but given the choice I would rather we were in a higher division than you (Stop laughing at the back)

14 bad years for us yes, but the heights that city scaled are no longer happening remember, you've gone from Certs for the prem to bottom of L1 in a few seasons. Not really anything to be shouting about is it mr sung???? In fact people keep talking about us and the conference but you are closer to going down than us

Places??.. "Points make prizes remember"

We both have 46 points and we're both 6 points above the dreaded dotted line.

We are second in current form in a poor division, whilst the Blue Waffle, I believe, are 22nd in current form in an even worse league.

Now, question time:

Would you prefer to be in our position to yours?

Hopefully us Reds will be OK.

As for you and your plight? Who cares? But thanks for showing an interest in Bristols leading Football Club.

Never mind the generation with no Bristol derby, there are now a few generations of Bristolians never to have seen Bristol City FC play top flight football. On the plus side, there's never been any generation of Gas - EVER - to have seen Bristol Rooooovers play in the top flight.

I have never recovered from being kept in the away end at Trumpton by the old bill while they celebrated promotion, Irene blasting out over the loud speakers while Francis with his mullet conducted the players over near the dugout.

Then there was the JPT regional final defeat and "Gas Mania" as the commentator called it up at the Mem.

There is nothing to compare with beating them but beware you youngsters the pain of defeat lives on for a long time.

My hatred knows no depths and I live for the day that they vanish into oblivion and the Conference.

Top post, anyone old enough to hear the cockernee pigeon fancier belt out "going up" with his shit mullet and team of artistes (Devon White, wife beater Alexander, Holloway, Vaughan Jones and the rest of the see you next Tuesdays) has probably seen enough of derbies against their thuggish shot putters for life.

No I'm replying to a "Derby Day" thread.

I am replying to your posts in this topic on the Bristol City Fans Forum. (Of which you took time out to join!)

In answer to your question:

No. I honestly don't care.

Dont call me Mr Sung. Its great leader to you, thou filthy unwashed blue methane snorter. :D

People keep talking about you and the conference because you are an established bottom half league 2 team and every year you end up in a struggle to avoid it! Keep flirting with that trap door and eventually youll fall.

80 or so Hiding at the top of the hill (having arrived in a few taxi's) and waiting to get escorted to the ground whilst the game is going on maybe suggests that Rovers have gone soft? Then again taxi's and police escorts are a change from the tunnel...

You should of popped over the other side of Ashton gate and played spot the sag.. You would of ran out of fingers counting very quickly. Or would you

Why do let these nobheads on here? The gas forum police would never let anyone on their forum that doesn't suck up to the establishment and buy into their deluded dreams. I've attempted to get registered on their site a number of occasions just to offer an informed opinion but you soon get a barage of abuse and end quite quickly being barred. Chuck them off and good riddance.

Really? You'd rather the feeling of beating the gas than the feeling of gaining promotion?

Maybe Pepsi, maybe :)

Fact is, I don't want Ashton Gate to be a nice friendly welcoming place for certain sets of away fans to visit. Before the last derby your forum was full of horror stories about groups of City fans (sorry, gert sh1teds) roaming BS3 looking for innocent Gas 'scarfers' to attack...it's garbage of course as our fans are no more guilty of attacking innocent fans than any other clubs but the result is that many of you took to the coach to get bussed into the ground (very much like the sort of bubble trip to Cardiff that we've been campaigning against for years) or refused to go at all. I can't imagine too many City fans being that intimidated by the bright, clean surroundings of the UWE Stadium.

Its your fellow fans that created the hype and having a few Gasheads at the Cross Hands surrounded by Police before being escorted to the ground after kick off wont change the fact that AG is generally considered a horrible ground to go to by a large number of your supporters. Another reason I'm quite happy to stay at Ashton Gate.

On the contrary Shirl, there are quite a few who will be bothered.Don't forget to book your taxi's well in advance as I 'm sure there will be a huge demand.

Seen plenty of Derbies over the 60+ years I've been following BCFC. Wonderful when we won and miserable when we lost. But although they were exciting occasions I don't miss them one little bit.

IMO we are and have been always the top team in Bristol, even when years ago they were above us in the league. There always seems something slightly unwholesome about the Gas and so it was more of a relief than a feeling of euphoria when we came out on top in the local battles.

The more leagues between us and them the better as far as I'm concerned. I'm still hoping they will restore the 2 division gap at the end of this season. Now that really would be something to bring a big grin to my face.

In the absence of Premier League football I think we need them in order to get more people interested.

Genuinely I would consider Bristol City the 6th highest supported team in Bristol, Rovers are 7th. Behind Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City. obviously  its a different kind of support but City aren't generating any money from football avid fans who watch the games on sky.

Even in the championship we struggled to generate a massive amount of interest (although 40,000 seem to find their way to Wembley and the Millenium Stadium for both Bristol teams somehow).

I honestly think we need them to progress in order for us to progess

I don't think you can beat the build-up to a Bristol derby. People work alongside rival fans every day, live in the same streets, attend the same schools etc. Then there are the days following the match, when you're either lording it over your colleagues, or trying to keep your head down. You just don't get the same intensity and edge with other games.

Having said that, I did get fed up with the off-field antics, which, however much those involved try to say otherwise, does impact on the ordinary supporters who don't want to be involved. As far as I'm concerned, both teams have their fair share of "lads", who are equally fond of a bit of physical confrontation, so no points scoring intended by my post.

That is nonsense, City are the best supported team in Bristol and Rovers the second best. Kids sat at home saying they're Man Utd and Arsenal fans and then changing to Liverpool and Man City when they are top dogs really don't count. At our peak in the Championship we were averaging 17,000 in an outdated stadium with relatively expensive tickets. Bristol City can easily support a top half champ bottom half Prem team and Rovers can easily support a top half League one bottom half Champ team.
