World Cup History Modelled In Subbuteo

Well, it appears there's more than one subbuteo modeller out there....

There are loads of Subbuteo modellers, painters and players out their.

There are also many 'famous' people who play and collect. Gigi Buffon, Paolo di canio and Novak Djockovic  come to mind.

It's seen as very geeky over here...but throughout the rest of Europe, especially Italy, Greece and Germany, it's seen as very 'Retro cool' with Tournaments being played every week.

There is a community of lads who with their wives, GF's and kids meet every weekend in Italy, have tournaments and lazy long lunches, whilst enjoying banter about football, all over a few beers and vino...I've made many friends through it. It's a great craic...even journalists and TV cameras turn up for the local news programmes...

Mainly it's just a bunch of lads who like football and want to get together...have a laugh and a few drinks and have their family with them.

This is one I attended a while back...but will give you some idea...btw I'm not the fella singing the 'national anthem' badly...

Funnily...over the period of this World Cup, me and my mates have arranged to watch the games whilst recreating the 1974 WC...all over a few beers of course....

similar to Novak Djokovic and his mates last month...
