Great signing!! Will protect the back four all day long. Genuine ball winner, but won't venture last the half way line too often. Will give JET, Baldock, Elliot and Freeman the licence to attack. Along side Pack who's a ball player, they should complement each other perfectly.

---------------------- Fielding -----------------------

Little ---- Osbourne --- Williams ---- Cunningham

------------------ Pack ---- Smith -----------------

------------------------- Elliot ------------------------

Freeman ------------------------------------- Baldock

------------------ Emmanuel-Thomas ----------

That looks incredible to me. Baldock and Freeman as inverted wingers, Little and Cunningham overlapping on their natural sides. The front three constantly switching throughout. Smith and Pack winning and distributing to the creative front four.

Maloney is decent cover at RB, Flint is decent cover at CB. Bryan can cover all down the left, Reid is capable of coming in in the middle and Bryan can cover down the entire left hand side and Burns can fit in out on either wing or as a false 9.

Think we may need a CB offer further depth at the back, and another big'un (Obika?) to offer a more natural target up top?

Too excited.

Smith is box to box so I'm sure he will be venturing across halfway. We need a defensive midfielder.

We'll be signing a centre back too.

Sorry mate but that's simply not true, he is more than willing to bomb forward from what I've seen.

Sorry mate, but it is true. He's a holding midfielder.

Sure he makes runs, but even Makelele made some bursts every now and then when it opened up for him.

Sandro at Spurs, Fernandinho at Man City are holding players that protect the back four but occasionally venture forward. Heck, even CBs make the odd forward burst!!

On paper it does look a decent squad -and im very happy with these singings - although how many times have we said that in previous seasons. Its great to see some positivety on Otib but lets also rememner to give this new team time to gel and get to know each other - im not being negagtive, just adding a dose of realism. They will need our support and patience and may not win the first game 5-0 ;-)

Either you've drunk as much as me or all your fingers are broken and you're typing with your arse cheeks because there are one or two little errors in your post !

Positive, especially in his Norwich days. Granted he has been played deeper at Oldham but he can attack. No question.

Maybe it's a case of Norwich naturally being on the attacking front foot giving him more freedom to venture forward compared to being at Oldham.

Sure with the way Cotts sets sides out, and the fact he's come in for Kelly who is arguably much more creative, that his plan is to utilise his holding strengths.

Haha. Comparison in terms of the job he does for the team rather than ability of the player! ;)

Yeah, come, be fair...!

You can't expect some Johnny Foreigner to be up to the standards of our new star midfielder, however hard he tried! ;)

How many assists did Kelly get for us in his time here..?
