TRL
No brainer Atyeo. After that, value for Money has to be Shelton. I'm surprised he hasn't been mentioned
Major Isewater
Just for the record, and as glynriley has alluded to, I did not say that Nicky Morgan was our best signing ever... just the best 'value for money' signing... ... carry on... Just for the record i lost a "value" somewhere apologies to you Superjack and let's go round again...
pongo88
It must be John Atyeo but my second choice is John Galley. He kept City in the old second division with his goals. If City had been relegated it's possible that Alan Dicks would have been sacked and City would never have made it to the first division.
Squire Dastardly
It has to be John Atyeo at No. 1. Remember Portsmouth were a 1st division side in those days. 2nd place Andy Cole. 3rd I would put Tom Ritchie, signed, I believe from Morton, so instrumental in taking us to Div. 1 and then keeping us there for a few seasons at least. aa_bcfc
Hunter, Washy, Gibson in that order closely followed by Gow. Of course Atyeo is the number 1 but although I saw him play many times we signed him before my time.
brady bunch
Nicky Morgan was undoubtably one of the most technically gifted players to grace a city shirt and cost us next to nothing, and certainly kept us up under Osman with a series of late goals one season. a joy to watch. Most others mentioned, but for me you can add: Tinnion, Basso, S Taylor and Mark Gavin.
Maltshoveller
I see lots on here have said Andy Cole For me Akinbyi was a better signing His goals per game was very close to cole He gave us 100% every game Something Cole rarely did We made more money on AA Saying that Brennan for me

Mike Litoris
Amazing how many have voted for Atyeo that can't even spell his name. In my life time, Tinman or Shaun Taylor

Cider red
Luke wilkshire! westred1
Value for money it has to be the late 90s to 00s era of Bell, Tinnion, Murray, Goater etc. Ivan Testimitanu could be up there! Just a shame about his injury at West Brom.
reddogkev
Brian Tinnion - so many accolades and positives for the man. Sweetest crosser of a ball to ever have lived, and all with his left peg to boot! There's probably quite a few young City fans who have never seen his winning goal at Anfield in the early nineties. And how many assists for Scott Murray?

stroudy
This was not the best signing from the point of view of longest serving etc, but Akinbiyi was a good signing. Scored a few in his time here and netted us 2.0m plus when we sold him. Not shabby at all. So financially an excellent signing
