foghornred
I remember the thrill that I got when we had signed Andy Cole but that is overshadowed by the day that we resigned Scott Murray and Louis Carey !
downendcity
Best signing in my lifetime was Alan Dicks.

Mahatma Coate
Best signing in my lifetime was Alan Dicks. On that basis TC was a close second.

HoldenBall
Another for financial reasons was nick carle, he was ok when he was here but sold him for double what we paid a year later You mean 6 months later? And I'm pretty sure we only got something like 100k profit on him..
cider hoss rules
Not many mentions of Darren Barnard or Micky Bell, and none so far for Martin Scott all excellent left backs. Dave Smith was a bargain if I recall too,

Olé
Apart from Atyeo a lot of the names mentioned for me were great players but I wouldn't call them best ever signings, you kind of knew what you were getting with the Coles and Goaters of this world - prior evidence for us or at other league clubs before we shelled out. So for best signing I'd look for great scouting and fantastic return on nominal investment. Has to be Brennan or Basso, with honourable mention to Prem youth/reserve diamonds like Scott Murray, though for every one of them there was a Patterson, McAree, Burns etc...
