Number of fans for the United v Madrid game in Michigan last night?? Mental numbers just for a friendly!!

The number of so called 'plastic fans' who watched Man Ure v Madrid in the Big House last night. The two so called 'biggest names' in world football couldn't even fill the stadium, something 18-22yr old kids do every home game.

Right answers.

Staggering attendance for a friendly and in America.

Just makes you realise the gulf between teams like us and the very top teams, as that interest abroad translates to huge increases in revenue from merchandise and everything else. Now we can see why Botswana is so important to our future   :)

It could have been the average weekly wage for a teenager signing for a top prem league club with wealthy foreign owners who have more money than sense.

We, on the other hand, are fortunate that we have a wealthy English owner with more money than sense - that's the important difference. That, and the fact that we are playing in division 3. Oh, and not forgetting that our average gates are only in the teens.

As Monty Python would say at this point, there are a number of crucial differences between us and top premier league clubs!

I was offered a ticket to this a few days ago at work (Chicago to Ann Arbor isn't a huge distance by American standards) at the eye watering price of $225, and that was face value! I can't imagine all 109,000 would have paid anywhere near the same (and the email said the $225 tickets were some of the best seats in the stadium), but even so, that's an insane price for a friendly.

Row 77 was $125 a ticket.

And by the size of the ground, that's got to be a pretty decent seat!

But I guess they do now?!

The power of commercialisation, thanks to over 100k.

Though, as mentioned - the Michigan Wolverines get more in for their games in that stadium :)

The general feeling around campus and a few die hards that it was sacrilege to hold the game there, it was bad enough with the hockey games.

But what struck me the most and it was what i thought originally was the field was to narrow, i didn't see the game but from a few highlights it seemed to be the case with the 10yd markers from the corner spot almost being in the penalty box.
