Real V Liverpool B

To be honest, I'm not sure why changing a team that has been criticised quite heavily whilst losing to Newcastle, struggling against Hull, getting torn apart by Madrid, & barely beating QPR etc, is considered "resting their best team".

Surely it's changing something that hasn't been working?

Balotelli - constantly criticised.

Lovren - not particularly well received.

Coutinho - hit and miss.

Gerrard - regularly suggested as "past his prime" and accused of no longer affecting matches.

Sterling - regularly rotated anyway.

Henderson - not too recently pilloried in many quarters, although now one of their more consistent performers so admittedly a bit of an odd one.

Johnson - never really been considered good enough.

It's really not THAT shocking. And if I were one of the players tonight, I'd be pretty pissed off and offended at a lot of the comments by pundits. They've got one hell of a motivation now.

Liverpool know if they win the last two they will qualify so it is a free game tonight for them.

They don't, as Basel will have 6 points after tonight, and could theoretically get 9, however unlikely.

No point giving up on a game and assuming you'll win the last two.

Ok it's highly likely two wins will get them through.
