Red-Robbo
It's not just down to FGW, there are franchise commitments which must be met, so these changes have to be agreed by the DfT, the DfT and the terms of the franchise mean that FGW ( nor any other TOC) hasn't got free reign to make changes as they want, this offers some protection to rural, local services, but also slows down beneficial changes. Mmmmm, the bureaucracy of our bonkers railway governance system. What you say doesn't surprise me. I quite like FGW's service I have to say, but I often travel Southwest Trains from Yeovil Jct these days because they are cheaper. No-one from Swindon is on the trains either, which is a bonus. WhistleHappy
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qp-8A0y-Pyw ...if we win the match six goals to Swindon's five, I'll regret not putting a couple of quid on it up the bookies, but it'd be a special well fought over the points game.. over the points, over the points... Stoke_Gifford_Red
I wonder how much busier the trains will be with people travelling across to Wembley? A bit but not massively so. I expect there will be many more city fans than England fans. Plus the trains will be less busy as there are no higher league games. I'm always shocked about how many people travel to London for premier league games from west of reading.
foghornred
If going by train make sure that you get there early as in Swindon there is talk of bringing the Kick off to 1200 or 1330 !
Guest
I thought these were obsolete? At least 2 mainline registered, all based up t'north. Maybe a nice class 50 Hoover for old times sake.. NTTDS would be in his element.

Admin phantom Posted November 14, 2014 Admin Report Share Posted November 14, 2014 May be of interest to some that there is a football special for city fans to get back from Swindon tomorrow. Leaves Swindon at 1750,so if you're caught in the escort after the game I'd expect this is where you're heading
