Only when it was converted to rwd with Mk2 running gear.

Mk1s and 2s were THE rally cars. Still going well too. Bubble arched Mk1 Escort was one of the best ever looking rally cars in my view.

Quite agree ,i had an old MK2 ,was so beautifully balanced .

I remember often in the snow when more modern front wheel drives were stuck i just sailed past in my old banger with a smug grin on my face .

Simple as ABC and cheaper than walking .

I recall my brother sold his MK1 and bought a navy blue MK2 saloon.. it too was marvellous in the snow of Great Barr.. when he lived in Brum many years ago... they always seemed to get a lot of snow in the high altitudes of Birmingham which brings me to a relatively little known fact.. what is the highest league ground in the UK... talking about Brum might be a clue, but it might not be.. ???

I had one of the first Mark 3's off the production line. Infact, I'm pretty certain it was the original prototype.

Classic UK made car. In two months the hinges of the hatchback door had rotted. So shut the door one morning and it slid off down the back of the car onto the pavement! It also had a lethal automatic choke that would cause a stall every morning pulling out on to a busy main road. Ford kindly paid for a new rear hatchback door but didn't accept that there was an issue with the choke. About 3 weeks after I sold it for a knock down price, Ford recalled all the cars for a choke modification. Never touched a Ford ever since.

UK made Honda CRV's with horrendous limp mode issues (swindle connection) and Land Rover Freelanders electricals are shite as well.

Given up on UK vehicles and now ( reluctantly) not flying the flag by buying German made vehicles. To date, appears a very sound decision excepting the ******** granite like firmness of the seats!

One of the least intimidating set of fans in the country. If they do turn up they'll just stand and stare.

Must be a young branch of the trainspotters society waiting for the intercity to arrive. Could be a long wait.

I hope there mobs better than the 17yr old dicks who came across the park last year.....saying that there older ones werent fck all especially in wetherspoons at there place.....;)....enough said

Chased shadows all day then on the way back to the station via the town centre (detour) we came across a mixture of young and older lads, they bounced up and down on the pavement giving it the big un, "come on city, you're nothing......blah blah blah" we calmy crossed the road and just like normal, gone apart from 3 lads who stood, then after a slight exchange were gone.

Swindon is always a big waste of time, two many years chasing shadows, glad I'm now half way between the west coast of Africa and Brazil.

Ps that lad Swindon lad in the White stone island jumper, pmsl.
