El Bad Yesterday

So Adam El-Abd is no longer the scape goat?

Nor Flint or Fielding?

Jet is trim and working hard?

Cotts doesn't play hoofball?

We're top of the league and the only unbeaten side in three divisions?

the pikey gas are in Conference?

FFS This season is really messing with my head

But what if, like Bobby Ewing in Dallas, you wake up in the shower and realise it was all a dream and never really happened? :shocking:

Just to go off on a different tack. Two of the great challenges a manager can have is the player who's been a rock at another club and has a nightmare start at his new one, and the class player who doesn't seem to fit. Cotterill seems to be handling both of those very well.

GrahamC says " you mean to say "Cotterill out ! "

How could you Aiz ? After all Cotts has done here .

Joking aside ,you are absolutely spot on .

Do you really believe this?

This "El-Bad" stuff is pathetic and anyone using it clearly isn't doing so wanting him to the player we saw for Brighton.

TBF we were all calling him that after some el-Bad performances last season.

Perhaps it IS time to retire the nickname however. El-Fab now?

Main reason I've heard why he had a bad start was , he was alone a lot of the time and now he has his family hear and gets along with his team mates he seems a different man... Also he possibly has the best chant out of our entire squad ( off topic but catchy!!)

Ps any player of taking the number 6 from our all time appearance maker is worthy of a chance in honesty

of course we all hope that whatever pyscho-psyomatic thingamajig that happened when Adam first joined us is well in the past.

He always comes across as being an intelligent individual. He's sat on the bench for 15-odd games. Must have done wonders to sort out his thingamajig. Fair play to him and fair play to Cotts for standing by him

Good luck for the future Adam  (got to say El Bad is a brilliant handle)

Didn't settle last season but also wasn't given a chance by the Ashton Gate 'faithful' which would knock anyone's confidence. He clearly is a very good player at this level and has showed that in the limited game-time he has had this season. His time will arrive when he will have an extended run in the team and he will prove what an asset he is. He would walk into any other side in this league.

Agreed. Was never going to be easy for him joining a struggling side in a formation which he wasn't used to, add to that he had been at Brighton for well over 10 years. He will come good this season (Already has in his brief game time).

Before the Adam love in goes one step too far and in the interest of balance and to keep a grip on reality-

Last season Adam was truly awful, a liability and looked like he was going to cause us real problems with his wholly unnecessary winding up of the opposition. He looked slow, totally uncomfortable and regularly played us into trouble. It is not fair to say he wasn't given a chance by the fans, he was dropped and rightly so and the team was all the better for this.He showed very little to suggest he would be an asset to this team.

This season, if he gets back in the first team for whatever reason, he will be given great support as would any player in our squad because SC is doing such a great job of turning players around and because we are doing so well. Adam may have had personal problems, settling in problems, adapting problems but lets not pretend that his nick name was unwarranted. But he also  deserves the same chance to prove himself as Flint has.

However,I hope he doesn't get his chance only because that would mean an injury or spectacular loss of form to another player who is currently a nailed on starter and has been an important part of getting us to the top and unbeaten this season.
