EnclosureSurge
Grefory 'Bedminster Footbridge' Goodridge! He had a throw on'm, aye! I liked the throw-in, in about 91, when we kicked the ball out for Charlton in the FA Cup and they didn't throw it back to us. Gave us all a chance to vent our spleens on those c*ckn*y b*st*rds... stroudy
Can't remember who it was, but in the 07/08 season I remember one of our players trying to throw the ball in against an opposition player and having a pop at goal.
nickolas
I remember us starting a quick attack, as a through ball with a quick throw from the williams side towards atyeo end, clean through on goal, to be pulled back for OFFSIDE!!! Oh dear. Mustve bin atleast 10 years ago.

John Salako! Turned around to face the Williams stand as if to ask 'What's the problem?'. If I recall correctly, they scored just a few minutes later to equalise (1-1), and we lost the replay - we would have played Man Utd had we won! pongo88
I didn't see many throw ins during a match in the 60s because it was very foggy, but I'm sure some were very good. Did anyone else not see them?
Aizoon
I remember my mate Dave, morning after his 21st, out on the cider all night, two of Lindley's pies and two cans of Natch... ...oh, right, throw-INS. Sorry
handsofclay
The Charlton match was in 1994 two rounds after we beat Liverpool. For me the greatest throw in at Ashton Gate was when Mike Gatting was on the boundary and he threw it in just over the stumps. Didn't his brother play for someone like Arsenal or Brighton? Bristol Rob
I went to Ashton Gate on new years day and the ref was rubbish. Every throw in was a foul throw and he did nothing about it.

TBW
Greg Goodridge next to the corner flat on by the Atyeo stand. The steward opened up the gate for him to get a longer run up and the referee made him close it.

PHILINFRANCE
John Salako didn't play for Charlton until '99. The Charlton player concerned was Scott Minto. Correct! The other details were, to the best of my memory, correct though. Again, to the best of my memory, John Salako destroyed City whilst playing (on loan?) for Swansea. The Bard
Jet against Port vale last season ...cracking throw I don't like his throwing technique. He needs to run up and lob it in with a more aggressive look on his face. Put more hard yards in. You JET lovers will probably say that his throw ins lead to goals, but what effect does his attitude have on the dressing room? "I don't need to run up as I can lob it 40 yards anyway" . Disgusting attitude.

Again, to the best of my memory, John Salako destroyed City whilst playing (on loan?) for Swansea. Had to correct you on that one Phil, I was in the Enclosure that day just a few yards from the incident. Also to stand up for John Salako who (for some unknown reason) has a real soft spot for City and never fails to praise us when reporting on Sky. Very, very good player too, and therefore used to attract lots of stick on his visits to AG, so his inate fondness for BCFC is even more mystifying. In fact, now that you have reminded me, I can picture his 'honest' bemused face at the crowd's reaction. I seem to recall, though, that John Salako was actually roundly applauded at the Swansea game, similar to JET and Evander Sno.

Swede
The best throw in has to be the derby on sky on a red n white night with those infamous red cards when they went 1:0 up in the 1st min & every time there was a sag throw in on the Dolman side of the pitch it would rain paper aeroplanes. On one occasion FA Cup ears took a throw for the sags & with a camera on him some wag jumped up behind him making faces and pulling on his ears and generally mugging him off. City1984
Far from the best but one that sticks out for me is Rob Newman some years ago. Dropped the ball from above his head which crossed the line of play, as he retrieved it to take a proper throw in he was promptly booked. In a state of disbelief he literally took his ball and went and sat down with St John's ambulance crew or such like at the front of the dolmand. Least that's how I remember it anyway. New Dazzler
Matt Bryant a central defender in the early 90s was a good long throw specialist - played many of his games in the "championship". He went to Gillingham , I seem to remember him getting some coverage in the national papers - not for his long throw though - IIRC correctly some non-football related story.
