2 Tv Games In 5 Days, Unwanted Audience?!

Seeing the tweet from Adam Baker yesterday saying that potentially 8million people could watch our JPT and FA Cup game towards end of Jan got me thinking that perhaps its bad timing coming towards the end of January transfer market where most clubs do their business.

OK the money (approximately 250k for both) is handy and could help pay a Transfer fee or wages for player for next 6 months, but we've seen what can happen when players have good games on TV like Cotterill, and is anyone else worried this added exposure could see the likes of Bryan, Smith & Freeman get some late attention and potentially leave?

We already have a depleted squad and probably need 1 striker & 1 midfielder in this window so would be disastrous if one of our main players left!

On the basis that on a recent thread about the Shedman, people were pointing out that any publicity is great for the club - it has to be massive for the CLUB that we are going to be on TV around the world twice in a week

As for players, if a club is only picking up on one of our players due to TV coverage I don't really think we have too much to worry about

One thing it may do is get a player to get his agent to pick up the phone to Cotts and get him signed on ???

Not much we can do about it, simple fact of football is in-form players will always drawn attention regardless of them being on TV or not. If anything being on TV drives up the price as more people see it and more people get talking, if the same player wasn't on TV and less people were hyped you'd probably expect interested parties to try and get the player cheaper than what he's worth.

Every other football club know that Steve Lansdown is loaded. In fact SL himself has said as much which is why he wants the club to generate the maximum income possible.

Being on TV twice won't highlight the fact that City are in the money. Neither will it act as a shop window for our players as any potential clubs that are interested will have already done their homework, particularly as City have been top of League 1 for the majority of the season.

On the flip side of the negative impact people are suggesting, having all this attention and recognition also puts the club in the shop window to gain even better players with the addition of gaining money and awards (JPT, league title). If we lose a couple of players along the way, they won't be on the cheap and we will replace them with quality so no need to worry
