If memory serves, Norwich offered something liked a million, however, Paul Jewell at Wigan stepped in at the last minute with a wad of 2 million and signed him. As such, the ideal scenario for Sunday would be that we wallop West Ham 5-0 with all our players playing really badly. Oh, and if anyone enquires about a Mr Cotterill we can say he's already left. That works a lot better for me. My issue is that at this stage it's better to have the player than the money (easy for me to say, it's not my money) It's that I'm probably not alone in feeling that we've got a couple of players in our present lineup that are better than Cotterill was then and silly money talks. I spoke to the Lansdown's about this a while after the event. My impression was that Wigan had been bidding all evening and had been batted away but it came to a time when the bids were getting serious. After turning the last one down Steve said 'if they come back with 2m then I'm selling', I don't think he honestly thought they would, he was as shocked as we all were at the time.
