So How Many Points For Automatic Promotion?

Mathematically, getting 106 points will win the league - W14L2 or W13D3. This is because the highest number of points anybody else can get is Swindown with 105 if they win all their other games. We could of course do it with 105 points and better GD (or even GS)

To look at 'just' getting promoted, it's slightly harder to calculate, but is possible now.

Sheffield United now don't play anybody above them. They can get 99 points if they win all their remaining games without any of us being able to affect this now.

MK Dons, Swindon and Preston all have to play each other. There are 27 different combinations of home/draw/away from these three matches. Assessing all of these, is it impossible for two teams to get more than 102 points. So 103 points will 100% guarantee promotion*, i.e. dropping three more points than the above. That is even if three of the points dropped are against Swindon. If we beat swindon, then the result is still better than 102 points but the number of combinations drops from seven to one (MK and Preston both beat Swindon and draw against each other). A draw leaves three possible permutations

* without being docked points for some reason, of course
