Not sure why this hasn't been publicised more, but thought I would post it, so that we can all get signing it, and sharing the link about to encourage others

Petition to build a station at Ashton Gate

Well spotted Dolly.

Crazy that they might spend millions re-opening the line and not reopen the station at Ashton Gate

with the POD line being reopened a station at Ashton Gate is highly likely,

The line is going to be running passenger Trains from 2019 I would hazard a guess that a station will be there in 2020 - 2023, its just not in the funding at the moment,

Hasn't the business case yet to be done?

Have you heard anything about the Portway P&R station not being used when it is built because it won't fit into the timetable?

I may have dreamed it but several years ago, there was serious talk of opening Ashton Gate Halt Station, with a tunnel leading directly to the away turnstiles, obviously then in the Wedlock, to minimise the risk of trouble. Don't they have something similar at Millwall?

Unless the story was launced on April 1st I would say that you dreamt it !

Millwall is just a windy lane from the station to the away end

Job done.

And well done Dolly for the 'heads up' on this important issue.

I use the Severn Beach - Temple Meads service quite a bit. It's great. Reasonably frequent, generally reliable and relatively cheap. Beats the crap out of crawling through traffic on a bus or in a car.

Being able to connect via TM to the Portishead line when it's up and running would potentially give City fans from the western side of town easy rail access to AG if a station were to be built there, including for example those from Avonmouth, Sea Mills, Shire, Clifton, Redland and Montpellier. Pity there wasn't the political will, foresight and competence to do it two decades ago when it should have been done, but better late then never.

Signed and bumped...

Its important anyway for residents, business and visitors alike to SouthBristol ......

BUT WOW after last night and CITY's incredible season.... Its VITAL now that we're in the Championship!

Thousands of more people will regularly converge on the area on match days, more than ever before everything is naturally bigger better and busier in the area, current infrastructure roads etc creak under the pressure and BCFC and its visitors will considerably add to those pressures due to a larger redeveloped Ashton Gate and its success ...... Everyone will benefit from a reopened rail link at Ashton Gate... Its needed now, it will become imperative soon!!

Does anyone know if the proposed line uses the train tracks under the suspension bridge?

Yes it does. The line is already in use for freight, the plan is to open the line to passanges ,how ever a new station at Ashton Gate as not been approved ,this is why the petition is important, if there is a strong enough case for a new station it may be built.

Bristol has fallen so far behind other European cities with public transport, this really is a no-brainer and shouldn't be needing petitions, it should just be done.

It should be a junction for the existing rail line to Wapping Wharf and the Centre but the Council, in its infinite wisdom, has stolen the trackbed for a bendybus

It could also continue on in front of the new Bristol museum, past the Ostrich and along Redcliffe way and back to Temple Meads.

I do hope Pip Sheard remembers that lots of City fans will have signed her petition the next time she's slagging us football fans off

That's the only negative about this campaign. That woman has done her utmost to halt everything possible with the movement of traffic around Bristol. She heads up the group (Transport For Greater Bristol) it should read No Transport for Greater Bristol.
