I think generally pockets do try and get the "na na na's" going but there is no general concensus on how many times to sing the 'your defence is terrified etc.' before doing so. And then the same issue with how many na na na's.. Just ends up a bit messy which usually results in the song dying out. As you say though, it would be great if it could get going in unison!
