Lanterne Rouge
We get another wicket in the next two or three overs and we win this I think.

Indeed, a very promising and well thought-of wicketkeeper/batsman who, based on his Second XI performances merits a run to see just how good he really is. After all, his batting may prove to be just as good as Steve Davies, certainly in Championship 4 day games.

Could be wrong but think the point was more a case of when fixtures are organised why not organise it so games are played Saturday/Monday so there's 2 games played over bank holiday weekend, however the answer to that could be a case that a lot of people who are likely to go watch are also likely to play cricket themselves so placing the game on the Saturday probably wouldn't work either. Would have been 5th day of the Test today so they'd have been showing that. It's half term this week which might push the crowds up a bit from the usual midweek level. Notts were doing a family funday at their game yesterday including entry for £1 per person, and had 14k there.

PHILINFRANCE
1 hour ago, Red Right Hand said: It`s never going to suit everyone I suppose. And that may well be the heart of the problem: corporate sponsorship, or the lack thereof on a Bank Holiday Monday. A normal working day and many are only too happy to be given the (paid) day off work to attend the corporate bash, but are reluctant to give up their own free time, preferring, quite understandably, to spend the day with their family. Accordingly, why should/would companies sponsor a match on a Bank Holiday when they will have fewer guest than on a normal working day? A lack of sponsorship equals a lack of income so the clubs prefer to stage games during the working week - or am I just being cynical?
