Best scenario if we are to take the draw, it might be forced upon us by the natural fall of wickets though. Braces is bang in form though and Gohar is really impressive in the way he has come into English conditions.
ralphindevon
I just realised I wrote this yesterday after our narrow defeat but didn’t press submit…… Great effort from the bowlers and if our batters can drag themselves from abysmal to even just average we’ll win games. What is it with our pitches? We get so much stick, some of it unjust and it’s not like we’re winning things by doing it. This time it turns out even we were surprised by it! For years now it’s cost us, either too flat or too much happening. Why can’t we get a groundsman that can prepare a decent fair wicket? We won’t be any worse off and maybe better, especially as we won’t get docked points.

We seem to have the opposite problem at Bristol, the two batting now are making a 4th day pitch look easy, there doesn't even seem to be any foot holes to exploit for Gohar. The only time wickets look likely to fall are first thing on a cloudy day, other than poor batting or an exceptional ball.

We just drew way too many home games with both teams scoring 500 plus. We then got a new groundsman, which has worked in our favour at times with Leach and co bowling spin but had often backfired too. We can’t seem to get a fair balance between bat and ball. Especially in April and September which is when most games are played.
Port Said Red
Two wickets in two overs may have turned the game to a Yorkshire win.

Actually managing to take some time out of the game and add a few runs, it could turn into another nail biter like last week. Great innings by James Bracey, 3 hundreds in recent innings must get England looking again even as a specialist batter.

So it's 211 in 60, I think the pitch is easy enough that York's can keep pushing even if they lose wickets steadily, you would have to have them odds on with the draw 2nd favourite right now. Port Said Red
Two wickets down but Glos seem to be relying on scoreboard pressure to get the next wicket. Higgins bowling without a slip can't have happened often?
ralphindevon
Unlucky Glos. Two thrilling games for them and one for us so far. The championship is alive and kicking. The table’s looking a bit bleak for us, this time last year we had an 8 point deduction but we were about 25 points better off than we are now. Yes Dawid Malan had that extra bit of class and experience to steady the innings at an important time. I am still positive about the Gloucestershire squad though, looking forward to Dent and Harris opening together and David Payne's return. 2

Tough start for us so far and Lancs away next up. On paper, our first XI looks very good. But there’s a few who aren’t quite up to it right now IMO. Taylor shouldn’t have the new ball, for example, Hammond is exposed at this level and Charlesworth is learning his trade. Dent, Harris, Bracey, Cockbain, Higgins, GvB, Lace, Gohar, Payne, Naseem, Dale would probably be my first choice XI right now.

Port Said Red
50 opening partnership against Lancashire's International attack is very impressive, no matter what happens in the rest of the game. I worry about Chris Dent's technique at times, he leaves the ball with his bat raised to waist level and seems to get hit on the bat regularly. Indeed. I don't want to jinx them, (Well, not too much ), but that 50 opening partnership is now very nearly 100 - 94 as I type.

Opening on the best pitch in the country, alongside an Ashes-winning partner, facing an international quality bowling attack. It’s the closest Dent will get to playing international cricket. If he can’t get up for this, he shouldn’t be playing first-class cricket. His defence has been solid in that first session, and what an excellent session it was for us. Cracking stuff. Go Glos.
