Port Said Red
Did we have a century opening partnership in 4 day cricket last season? It always seemed to be the middle order digging us out. Dent has to be putting himself into the selectors minds here and Bracey must be hoping to continue his form too. The Somerset boys on here seem to be have been overly pessimistic too. Edited April 21, 2022 by Port Said Red
Northern Red
There was a suggestion that the pitch at OT would be prepared to suit the Lancs pace attack, but it looks a belter, especially in the glorious Manchester sun. Good toss to win and spin should become a factor later in the game which brings Parkinson and Gohar into it.

It’s definitely nowhere near as quick as the three Test pitches a few decks over, but it’s still a belter and definitely a good toss to win (they usually are in April). The ball seems to have gone soft pretty quick, too. Hopefully we can cash in and get a big first-innings score on the board. tin
From the sublime to the ridiculous. Dent threw his wicket away and two were unlucky to be strangled down leg. An England-style collapse.

PHILINFRANCE
I have just noticed we have our highest score of the season thus far and, wait for it, look to be set for our first batting point!
PHILINFRANCE
So, Somerset start on 283/6, with Tom Abell on 121 NO. I am pleased for Tom, as he has been in atrocious form so far this season, and there was even some talk of 'resting' him were he to have failed in this match. Yesterday was only his 9th Century, he batted for just over five and a half hours, but I didn't realise until earlier that he is just 14 runs away from his highest ever first class score, 135. Let's hope he continues the good work this morning.

I mean, I know there is pressure etc., but even so. Tom Abell also dropped one a bit later, although it was a slightly more difficult chance to be fair.

Northern Red
Glos were 3 overs away from batting out for a draw that had looked unlikely for most of the day, Lace in particular was excellent. 2 weeks running that Lancs have made heavy weather of wrapping up a game that looked done and dusted.

Spot on, and we weren’t far away last week from drawing with Yorkshire. Two more tough tests up next in Surrey and Hampshire. At least we will have the cheat and hopefully Payne back to bolster what is a threadbare attack aside from Gohar and Higgins.
