Less media content this season?

Is it just me or is there a lot less media content this season? Seems to be the minimum possible.. Highlights, 3 interviews pre match and 2/3 post match..

In previous seasons there's been lots more. Interviews with Burt, 'fun' features..

the only 'extra curricular' stuff I can remember this season aside from tour is the interview with Wade.

I feel our media strong has been really good last few years, but with YouTube.. Snapchat etc even more prominent it's even easier to create new innovative content.. Even BcfcSnap seems to have lost a bit of zip this season..

Anyone else noticed this?

I think they are being sensitive to the general mood at the moment - fun and laughter is well received when the club are doing well, but at the moment (as others have already said) any fun and games will lead to suggestions they aren't concentrating enough on the football.

Maybe.. But no one is forced to watch it. The club has, to my knowledge, 3 media guys. What are they doing all week?!

Maybe Cotterill thinks they are too tired to be filmed playing "guess who" at the moment

it's not so much that, FWIW I thought that was actually a boring feature. I mean other things, chats with Tinnion.. Burt.. As well as the fun stuff.

I'd love to hear about Tinnion's work over last few months for example. Other clubs.. Southampton, Man City.. Have fantastic media content. They should be the benchmark especially if it's free/easy to do.

I would like to see City sharing skills videos for kids like the above.

Mods top clip shouldn't be there ..Can't edit it?

Agree, really easy to do and would be popular. I am at a loss to know what our media team is actually up to most days. You could get college or uni film/tv production students to even make us content - it's so easy to do.

Totally agree mate...think everyone is tied up with this Stadium building mullarky.

Would love more stuff on backroom staff and Academy players etc.

They can't even keep the websites up to date...so no chance of that.

The stadium updates though have come via Bristol Sport so what are BCFC's media team doing beyond the handful of articles on the website, a couple of Player interviews per week and a match programme (with layout and design outsourced I believe)?

Perhaps someone can ask at the next Supporters trust meeting?

Its quite easy to see the day that one media team at Bristol Sport covers all the teams under the umbrella. Cost savings!

As an example,  I still can't figure out whether our Under 21's won or lost 3-2 yesterday!

Think the 'Bristol Sport' website either needs to be redesigned to make navigation much simpler or just scrap it and go back to a Bristol City only website. So much for 'Bristol Sport' improving the customer interface.

It would be easy to achieve and could easily have thousands signing up to watch, and use clips.

Bristol City do have coaches from the Academy and Community Trust working with Junior clubs and schools.they could share these created clips.

Kids in schools and clubs could watch City players perform skills on coaches I pads, and at home. One coach with an association to City does do this. The clips he used were not City players. Meanwhile other clubs are doing similar. There is a lot of scope there for BCFC and its Trust.

Go back to something that already exists? Eh?

Anyway, I said Joe Merrith and Adam Baker should have more professional pride than putting out a piece with such a bad photo. I would be embarrassed  if I were them. No excuse in this digital day and age for rubbish photos. They are representing our club, or should it be Brand, to the world.

ok Cotterill isn't there to be 'looked at' as such, but if it was Dopey Darryl on the Gas site we'd be ripping it out of them big time.

it's just a boring article too, says nothing new and barely worth posting. They need to be more innovative and at the moment just feels like they go through the motions. Previously I've found the media side of things to be professional and interesting, now it seems to be the absolute minimum posted. No excuse with so many FREE formats for creating/sharing content available.

Look at Boro. This was part of their preview of our game with them... http://www.mfc.co.uk/news/article/2014/boro-bristol-city-riverside-ken-daly-2635347.aspx

Researched with a bit of humour. Not seeing anything like that on ours...

Exactly. Look at the sheer volume of uploads Southampton do - u21 stuff, match stuff, behind the scenes..

There's always time for ' fun and laughter ' , the alternative is boredom and tears.

We are talking sport here , it's not like some mad bastard terrorist and his mates are trying to blow the place up .

Realise just how lucky we are to be worrying about an underwhelming League position , as my friend Dai the Welsh Lama says.

I found most of the stuff last season very cringey to be honest.  I don't really want to know what players favourite films are etc...

The chap that asks questions in post match pressers isn't going to win any awards for journalism either I'm afraid. Same mundane boring questions and rarely provide any interesting incite.

Since their job is to be the PR face of the club what are you expecting? It's Stockhausen, the BBC and ITV who should be asking probing questions.

There does seem to be a bit of an apathy from the media team this year but in the same breath, people will moan about anything when the chips are down.

My original reason for starting this wasn't to moan, I don't think there's much moaning in this thread really and most of it is probably useful feedback for the media team.

I just find it odd how there are (I think) 3 full time media employees and so little content. Kodjia, our most exciting player at the moment, hasn't even had an interview with an interpreter!

I completely agree, but I have still found the questions more dull than ever before. Maybe I am just getting more cynical!

Liked the fact that the supermarket in the video was Sainsbury's very prescient.

I don't mean you in particular, sorry if it caused any offence. Just a general point.

Exactly the reason they shouldn't use such an awful photo of Cotterill in the article then. Why not take the opportunity to show how hard the players are working in training, get some of their thoughts on how things are going. Show off some of their skills etc. Get them to talk about healthy diets and exercise, if they only get a few kids interested it might be one less obese adult in the future. They could do so much, the media team.

Get the u18 and u21 players media savvy, maybe it will be a bit easier when they break into the first team and all eyes are upon them.

I don't think most people take much notice of the photo since it's a fairly standard one. Working previously in web journalism, you concentrate far more on your content.
