Celtic Chairman at it (again)

"Celtic & Rangers will join English clubs in a British  league within a decade claims Dermot Desmond" says today's Metro.

He thinks changes in broadcasting will make it happen.

This is the man who stated previously "the money clubs must stick together" and "Celtic & Rangers must play in a stronger League so they can compete better in Europe".

I have some questions for you Dermot. If we let you in our League, who will you replace, Stoke, Watford or Bournemouth who've all got there on ability? Why should we give you foreigners a better chance in Europe? If it's a British league, which Ulster team will come in? As Rangers aren't in the SPL, why do they automatically enter your British league? Finally; if Celtic and or Rangers did compete and finished bottom who replaces them; the winners of the SPL, or a deserving English Championship team? Then again, perhaps you thing they should be exempt relegation?

The Emperor Hadrian knew what he was doing.

Celtic chairman has just realised Scottish football is shite

We've been hearing this for decades but it's not going to happen.

Wales cannot support a viable professional league so its handful of teams that can or nearly can do this (Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham, Newport) either play in a league of four or join with England as they have done.

Scotland however  currently supports several fully professional leagues. So they have a perfectly viable structure already with the only problem being that it is mostly dominated by two big clubs.

There's no case for it. It's like Man City and Chelsea becoming incredibly successful and thinking that they could make more money by playing in the same domestic league as Real Madrid and Barcelona so joining the Spanish league.

Which is what the Champions' League is for.

Wales and Scotland aren't really the same.  whether politically or socially.  Wales and England are tied much closer together: the England and Wales cricket board, the title "price of Wales" etc.  England and Wales have been a political union about 200 years longer than England and Scotland and lets not even mention the difference in referendum results or the fortunes of Plaid vs SNP.
Welsh teams welcome, Scottish and particularly Glaswegian, are not.  It's taken them 300 years and they still havent learnt to accept people who follow a different strand of the same religion, imagine how they will react when they come to multicultural places like Bradford, Leicester or Bristol.

It's a no from me.

I'll give ya £3 and half a pack of cheese & onion crisps.

Hey, if it includes Gareth Bale, we've got ourselves a bargain.

Ok we'll go 50 / 50 as long as we can sell Bale to cover our outlay..

In the meantime I'll have Katherine Jenkins & Alex Jones and you can have Charlotte Church & Shirley Bassey
